It's official-we are a big market team!
Check out the poll on
We are listed as an option in the Miguel Tejada "sweepstakes." That's pretty funny. I guess we are finally getting some respect.
Note: I am in no way advocating anything involving Tejada one way or the other. Just noting that it is interesting that the Sox are listed as an option. We have been traditionally only been listed in such polls as "other."

nevermind
Tejada PredOPS .810
Uribe PredOPS .771
And I looked up:
Tejada CareerOPS .815
Uribe CareerOPS .737
Any idea why Uribe's is so far off his career number? (I haven't read up on the methodology yet, sorry)

It's component driven
Uribe lays out lots of ropes, and even though he looks bad when he does strikeout, he doesn't do it all that often.
Thanks
For what it's worth, Uribe's post-allstar OPS was .769, close to the prediction above. Perhaps most importantly considering that OPS undervalues OBP, Uribe did walk an awful lot more in the 2nd half as well as raising his slugging percentage.
Historically, though, Tejada's OBP is way ahead of Uribe's (.338 vs .305), perhaps making the OPS comparison a little misleading in terms of assessing their value.

Wouldn't more realistic trade be
or
Vazguez, Uribe, and McCarthy for Tejada and Cash?
I would think that the Oriloes would want pitching. They already said that they want MLB ready pitchers, no minor league pitchers, they need em now. I am not saying this is a good trade for the white Sox, but isn't that more realistic from the Orioles point of view?
realistic? No.
I know its not a good deal for us
