On Sporting News radio last night (after midnight on the Score) they "broke the news" that the White Sox are close to closing a deal that will bring Jason Schmidt to the south side.

I have a source (no one too deep in the organization...just someone who sometimes "hears things")who said that this might be true.

ESPN's Rumor Central says that the Giants are asking for "at least two major-league-ready starters, plus a top-level prospect."  Jose Contreras, Brandon McCarthy...annnnd....I don't know.  But if by some chance we could get Schmidt for BMc and Jose Contreras I'm all for it.  Then again I'm ready to trade Contreras for a bag of potato chips, at least the chips won't buckle under pressure.
