White @ Red -- Garland vs. Wakefield

Damn, I thought today was a day game. I had my whole afternoon planned around it. I guess this means I have to do actual work now.

Jon Garland tries to right the ship against Tim Wakefield and the Boston RedSox.

There's no hitter in baseball who scares me as much as David Ortiz, it just seems that we can't get him out. So last night, after his second home run I looked up how we've fared against him since he became Big Papi on the Sawks. Boy was I surprised. He was only hitting .179 against us, but had 4 HRs, and a bunch of walks to make his total line look respectable. He still scares me though.

If this is a preview of the ALCS, it is going to be a depressing series. Ozuna hitting leadoff yesterday, Perez in the one-slot today.. . . this is sad.

I wouldnt read too much into this

I think we just caught them at a bad time (like we did with Oakland). Their offense just so happened to be clicking on all cylinders when we had to face them this series. It appeared that Buehrle and Garland both have been struggling to implement an effective breaking pitch lately, with Garland admitting as much after that last start. I still like our chances against both Oakland and Boston, short series or long.
