Sox Related Book Readings/Signings

Here's a little shameless promotion (only because some of you might be interested):

Barbara's Bookstore at 1218 S. Halsted (@ Roosevelt) is hosting a reading of "When Chicago Ruled Baseball" by Bernard Weisberger, which details the last Cubs/Sox World Series (100 years ago already!), on Wednesday, May 17 @ 7:30 p.m.

The second event, on May 25 @7:30 p.m. is a reading of "Say It's So: The White Sox Magical Season" by Phil Rogers of the Chicago-Tribune.  I'm sure you can guess what this book is about.

Hope a lot of people can make it to Barbara's for these events!

I'm currently halfway through...
Weisberger's book.  He's is/was? a history prof at the U of C and there is a lot of good Chicago-based historical stuff in the book.  If you're into old-time baseball and Chicago history, I can recommend this book based on what I've read so far.  Plus, it never hurts to have a greater knowledge of another of our wonderous World Series championship squads.  The White Sox don't have a plethora of books written about their history that don't involve our club being disgraced.  I'm glad I was able to get a hold of this one.

Rogers' book is a dull Tribune sponsored overview of the 2005 season.  Pick it up if you have forgotten who hit the grand slam in the World Series or who made the great defensive plays to clinch the title.

I certainly agree...
with your assessment of the two books.  Both readings, however, will also have question and answer sessions that I'm sure will inspire some good discussion amongst fans.
