White Sox vs. Baby Bears -- Contreras vs. Zambrano
Jose Contreras (5-0, 1.41) vs. Carlos Zambrano (2-2, 3.34)
After yesterday's brawl, expect there to be pre-game warnings issued to both sides. Both managers have said there will be no retribution (in the form of beanings) today. I can honestly say that I'd be shocked if Contreras hit anyone, but I can't say the same for Zambrano. He's a few missed Prozac away loony bin -- I don't think he knows what he's going to do from one minute to the next.
Zambrano will be fired up, for sure; which either means 12K complete game shutout or 3rd inning meltdown. The key for the Sox will be working the count, and getting in his head a little on the basepaths. He has a history of beaning Sox players, hitting Aaron Rowand (intentionally) and A.J. Pierzynski (plausible deniability) when they met exactly a year ago.
Expect Michael Barrett and Pierzynski back in the lineup today, as it takes the Mr. Watson a few days to decide the length of the sentences handed out.
With Contreras coming off the DL to make the start, somebody has to be shipped out. One would think that somebody has to be Boone Logan, but Agustin Montero has been almost as bad, and he doesn't seem to be one of Ozzie's boys. I don't really care who it is, but they both should be off the roster sooner rather than later.

my bad, too bad Contreras doesn't get a win
This team doesn't seem to have the winning sense like this time last year. Hopefully we'll have a better second half than last year.

terrible weekend of baseball

I wouldn't call it terrible.
There was only one inning where the Cubs looked like a Major League team.

embarassing
People are blaming the bullpen, I guess you can, but I blame this game on bad defense (2 errors + missed double play).

Our schedule for the next month is rough
The bright spot is that we sent Boone Logan down this morning.

the "misplay" hurt
politte didn't have an error in the 9tha nd he gave up a run
I think the sox are beating themselves more this year than they did all of last year

ozzie and cotts
when neal makes an out, ozzie pulls him immediately, and I scream "why don't you leave him in?"
but when neal gets hit, ozzie leaves him in
what kind of strategy is this?
2. couldn't we've used nelson on the 8th?

also: i agree with shaftr; the bullpen wasn't doing great either, but seriously, how many times did we need to drop the ball today? the defense was not up to par. maybe the swanky retro uniforms were itchy and no one could concentrate, or something...
