Anderson getting demoted?

Tribune article from Mark Gonzalez hinting at it being a possibility.  Not too excited to hear this.  Mack as a permanant option in CF is bad, Pods in CF is bad, Ozuna or Gload in the OF is bad.  I don't like the options, unless somehow a good CF could just fall into our laps.  Unfortunately that doesn't seem likely.

i disagree
but with his "shakeup" talk tonight and his discussion of needing another righty off the bench, I wonder if we'll see someone up from Charlotte.

Perhaps Fields (righty) or Sweeney (of)?

it's
not going to be fields. if we demote an OF we need to bring in an OF.

can we demote a guy under suspension?
if BA starts serving his probably reduced suspension...

well
obviously we couldn't call someone up to replace him. i'm not sure about whether he could play in charlotte if he's serving an MLB suspension.

BA is not losing the Sox games
I find it bizarre that on a day he didn't play, a game in which Mack badly misplayed a ball to cost a run, BA is singled out as needing to be shipped out.

Yesterday's loss was more a product of Guillen pitching Nelson 1+ innings when he could have gone to Jenks instead.

No one aside from BA in AA or above can replace his glove. And he sure isn't going to learn to hit only facing a lefty like Sabathia every 7 days or so. If Guillen is really done with BA (and tonight the Trib said the games in CLeeveland "could be Anderson's final chance"), they need to trade for a CF, not play Mackowiak.

The Sox have been playing mediocre ball mostly because Vazquez, Garcia, and Garland have pitching mediocre. After that, the bullpen has been pretty bad (Politte, Cotts, and the departed Logan). Demoting BA, lousy average and all, doesn't fix that. Honestly, you could make a better case for starting Cintron over Uribe than Mack over BA. At least BA has been walking some.

indeed
for me, the bigger problem has been uribe's lack of production (something that seems to get far less play on this site and generally; i'm confused about why this guy has gotten such a free pass). if anyone had BA pencilled in for much more than .235, they were delusional. uribe was talked about as our #2 hitter in february. cracked me up then and even moreso now. he should be hitting .260 or so. he's just been pitiful at the plate - and lately his D has been lacking, as well.

our team is good enough to be able to carry one guy who doesn't hit much above his weight. i think ozzie may be deciding that guy is uribe, not BA.

uribe v. BA
obviously not the whole story but:

OBP for BA: .276
OBP for JU: .239

of our apparent starters, uribe is .100 below crede, our next lowest starter.

Uribe's Pass
I believe he gets a semi-pass because we all know that he is a very streaky hitter and that his streaks last a fairly long time.  I cringe whenever I see Uribe's average pop-up but then I think that it just means he's due for about a month of hitting .400.  I've seen it many times before.

The other reason he gets a pass is his amazing defensive post-season, highlighted by the last two out of the WS, which earns you something in this town.

His pass won't last forever though, so I HOPE he turns it around soon.

More concerned with Anderson
Frankly, I think Ozzie is going to be forced to stop goofing around with both Anderson and Uribe. I agree that Uribe gets a waaay longer leash than the rookie but for how much longer? Do the Sox wait and see what each of these guys do against Detroit next week? I wouldn't be surprised if Uribe snaps out of it against the Tigers and squashes any more talk of his cold bat. As for Anderson...I thought the experiment was over (and I said so a few days ago) up until I saw Macowiak botch that liner last night. Sheesh...June will be interesting for the bottom of the line up.

ahhh Beautiful Camel Back Ranch in sunny Glendale AZ...a couple friends and I are going to meth up in Scottsdale to play some golf and raid the fridge in some 16000 sqft house and I was curious as to which SSSers have ever been out there. Unfortunately our trip falls short of the first game as we leave the evening of the 4th but does anyone know if we can tour the facilities and watch some practice drills or anything of the sort.

Any tips, tricks, or ideas are welcomed. Will my SSS press Badge work?
