Does Detroit finally lose a series?
It's a bit annoying that we win 9/10 and end up an extra 1/2 game back (i think the 1/2 game back is right).  They get Houston now, who played us well.

Until ASB
CHW:
3 @ Pit
3 @ Chc
4 vs Bal
3 vs Bos

Det:
2 vs Hou
3 @ Pit
3 @ Oak
3 @ Sea

So, Chicago has 3 easy series and one tough one (Boston).  Detroit has 1 easy series, and three that could pose problems (Houston, Oakland, Seattle).

Unfortunately
we sometimes are like the DePaul Mark Aguirre era - we play to the level of our competition (KC, Tampa Bay, e.g.).  So let's stomp the weak sisters and keep our foot on their respective throats!  Need to bear down - Detroit beats everyone they are supposed to beat (and then some).  I'm not worried about head-to-head, but we can't slide too far behind.  And Minny is getting tough - finally playing like everyone said they should, all the way back to pre-season last year.  The division is brutal, just like projected at the start of the year.

Hard throwing righty...
...pitching for the Pirates. And according to something I read earlier, Snell owned the Sox minor league teams the past few years--so BA may have faced him a bunch of times with little success.

by the wolf on Jun 27, 2006 7:46 PM CDT reply actions

Joe Randa
And Pods looked like he was prepared to misplay that one too.  The kid in the stands with his glove on had a better read on the ball.

by the wolf on Jun 27, 2006 7:53 PM CDT up reply actions

Oh
And it was a step or two in front of the wall.

by the wolf on Jun 27, 2006 7:54 PM CDT up reply actions

Too close to call?
Was it? Looked to me that if no one were there to catch it, it would've juuuust made it over. Once again, only due to the short walls.

by brookswashere on Jun 27, 2006 7:55 PM CDT up reply actions

Short
It was definitely short of the wall.  The kid with the glove reached out but couldn't quite get there.  Would have been interesting if he had touched it or Pods' glove.

by the wolf on Jun 27, 2006 8:00 PM CDT up reply actions

High hopes, short walls
Randa hit it. It was close only because the wall is so short (6 ft). If that were a nine foot wall it would've only been a double (had it not been caught).

Poor Twins
They've won 13 of their last 14 since dumping all of their old and crappy players and are winning again today.  In that time, they've made just up 2 1/2 games on the Sox and 1/2 game on the Tigers.

AL Central = Best division in baseball, even with KC.

i say screw the twinkies, as a matter of principle. they're fattening up on the NL central and west.
