BA Comp

Brian Anderson
As of 6/7:
.162 BA / .243 OBP / .299 SLUG / .542 OPS

JJ Hardy
Pre ASB 05:
.187 BA / .293 OBP / .267 SLUG / .560 OPS
Post ASB 05:
.308 BA / .363 OBP / .503 SLUG / .866 OPS

Both were top prospects in the organization who struggled with the bat.  They also both showed value with their gloves.  Perhaps BA will have a 2nd half similiar to Hardy's 05.

BA send down?
Trip to minors likely in the works for Anderson:
Ozzie Guillen did his best last week to put off the inevitable, but now the White Sox manager sees rookie Brian Anderson entering a dangerous area. So rather than permanently scar his Opening Day center fielder, Guillen said Wednesday that he might make a difficult decision before the weekend series against the Cleveland Indians to send Anderson down to the minor leagues.

mack attack
ozzie:
"The ballclub can handle things without him. ... If I'm going to do something, it's bring another pitcher up and take my chance with Rob Mackowiak [as the every-day center fielder].''

the circus is coming to the sox CF; start selling tickets!

Hmm.
I've also thought about this comparison. And perhaps all Anderson needs is patience and more time.

I think he can be a good player in MLB. He's a good defender who seems like a smart player. All he needs to do is improve his contact rate and his LD%.

Let's hope he does it.

All BA Needs To Do Is . . .
This reminds me of a story from late in Ted Williams' career.  A member of the Red Sox was in a nasty slump and worked up the courage to approach Williams and ask him for advice.  "How do I get out of this slump, Ted?" he said.  Surprisingly, Williams didn't snarl or dismiss the guy but gave the question some thoughtful consideration.  After a moment, he replied "Well, when I'm in a slump, what I like to do is hit line drives up the middle."
