Look at G-loads batting average
and tell me he shouldn't be playing more...?
I think he's a MUCH better prospect as a fielder than Mack...
Thoughts?

I'm sorry....
but you just can't give him 9.5 million.  Do I think he is finished? Absolutely not.  But given the expensive contracts we already carry we just can't take the risk that this year was the beginning of Mark Buehrle as an average major league starter.

I think you should
he'll either bounce back or bring in more than that

I hope...

picking up the option and dealing him makes sense.

He's 2006's enemy #1
Buehrle has been a full fledged disaster.  Starting with that game at Wrigley in early July, he has started 16 times.
In those starts:

His ERA is 7.49
His 1st inning ERA is over 15.00
His BA against is .353
His record is soon to be 3-10

It's pretty likely he has been the absolute worst starting pitcher in baseball over the last 3 months.

86 years long years
I'm a Twins guy and I just wanted to send my heartfelt condolences. Finally you cocky bastards can crawl back into your holes. What does it feel like? You got upstaged by the Twins. Tell AJ I have some great seats for the playoffs/ He can have them if he wants.
86 more years...that's a long time.

The funniest post of the year!
I may have awakened the family with my laughter.  Goddammit, Cheat, you are THE MAN!

God, I hate the Twins.

It even feels good to extrapolate Purdue's win against the Golden Gophers today - F you, state of Minnesota!

Minnesota sucks!
Go hunting or fishing and just shut up because you guy's aren't getting too far.

I concur!
Although I will give props to the twinkerbells for not tanking in the second half, like our beloved Sox or the ligers.  The twinkies are a team that actually deserves to be in the playoffs, even if I hope they lose ASAP.

Aside from that, screw minnesota and screw their fans.  I won't say more cause I think I've made my disdain for minnesota crystal clear in past posts.

GO SOX!

With apologies to every poster here
I nominate Cheat as the Sox fan of year. That was too good not to go unnoticed or unappreciated.

You are the master of your domain.

Priceless.

did anyone watch after the delay?
the line from haeger looked pretty good (i realize it's just the mariners) and i was wondering if anyone could give a first-hand report.

by larry on Sep 23, 2006 5:33 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

He looked about the same as he did with
Alomar behind the plate, but AJ called almost exclusively knucklers, and was better, though still not very good at catching/framing the pitches. More of the pitches that were taken were called for strikes, and nobody put a good swing on his knuckler.

whats up
I'm a Mariners fan, but I'm not here to troll or anything. Haeger still loked a lot like he did before when I saw him against Anaheim and Seattle last night. He still can't find close to the plate like Wakefield. He still looks an awful lot like Steve Sparks. The reason he did so well tonight is because the Mariners are absolute, dead-red hackers and he was able to get them to swing at ugly pitches and by the time they actually decided to not swing, then Haeger would get it across the plate and they'd strike out. On the plus note, his knucle ball has excellent movement, better then wakefield's but he needs to be able to find the plate a little bit more if he wants success against teams with a little plate discipline

What I said yesterday still applies...
Winning this game doesn't affect our outlook for next year, except with regards to...

CHARLIE HAEGER!

3 1/3 innings pitched, 5 K's. I guess the knuckler was working, then.

He might have a spot on the team next year.

Charlie Haeger?
Come on you have to be kidding! He is as consistent as the weather in Chicago! It's like a pull on a slot machine whether this guy has control or not. Our future pitching prospects don't give one warm and fuzzies. Between Haeger, Tracey, and Logan we are going to need plenty of Pepto-Bismol.
