Miguel Cabrera
After missing out on Hunter, and signing Scott Linbrink to a terrible four year deal, Kenny better not be even close to being done. I hope he goes hard after Miguel Cabrera. What do you guys think it will take to land him over the Angles, Dodgers, and Giants? (Fields, Gonzalez, Broadway, Sweeney, etc.) And if it takes a pakage of these players would you guys still do it or do you think we would be better off holding on to our youngsters?

After the Sox satisfy Florida's trade demands for
If I were Fla., I wouldn't even want what the Sox could offer. They could get much better talent from either LA team.
In other words "not gonna happen". Another KW pipe dream.

You don't think
I would also like to see him at 3rd base but....
And, no I don't think Fla. would accept Fields, Sweeney and Gio in a trade because none of those guys are likely to be close to the player Cabrera is.
My guess is the Sox would probably have to add Danks or more.

The value of Cabrera is not his defense...
Big Hole in LF

I'm thinking Miguel will cost...
Would it be worth it?
Uhm... I dunno? Depends on what we can get out of our rotation. That's what's going to take the biggest hit because we don't have many good position players left other than Fields. Sweeney? Doubt that he would be anything other than a throw in.

Firstly, Cabrera will get in shape.
Secondly, if the Sox are going for all the marbles this year and they trade thir future for Cabrera (Fields), then they are counting on Crede's health to hold up all year long at third base and also are prepared to lose him for nothing at the end of the year ?
Sounds pretty dumb to me. They should forget Cabrera. They need so much more. In 2005, if they would have signed Maggs, they never would have made the playoffs.

What's the hurry?
I'd rather wait for him to become a free agent, then go after him hard there. It'll cost them the same amount of money without costing them talent, and they'll be in a better position to pay him.
Much too logical
Personally, I think you bring up a good point and would love to see the White Sox follow that plan. I'm not a fan of the Linebrink signing because of losing a draft pick, thought they should have protected Hernandez (?), and don't want to them sign a type A free agent CF.
But what the hell do the Sox care about what I think? Ugh, I have a feeling things are going to get a lot worse before they get better...and hope that I just reverse jinxed the whole situation.
If you think the White Sox will win the bid

I don't.
I see your point...
Probably like 6/140. Yikes.

2008 Team
That makes Josh Fields LF. He will take over 3rd when Crede is injured/traded.
CF will be Owens, until his slow start kills him. Then it will be Sweeney or Andersen and the position becomes a revolving door for the remainder of the season. Ozzie second favorite of the day will take LF after Fields takes over 3B.
2B will have Richar as the OD starter, but will soon regress into a revolving door as well with Uribe and Ozuna pitching in.
2008 Sox will be fighting with the Royals for last place again.
