B Pro translations for Alexei Ramirez

Der Komminsk Star over at BTF found some davenport translations for Alexei Ramirez. Pretty optimistic and yet potentially realistic given that Davenport has cuban league at A level. Last three translated OPS .750, .850, .765. Heck even a .700 OPS is better than JO. Jerry Owens has a .639 career OPS. I'd rather the kid get a 1/2 season of AAA under his belt first, but if he dominates in ST (unlikely given his recent lack of ABs) put him in there.

Sweet
If he can play short, he could be a long term answer there.  I'm sure Kenny realizes this and knows he can pick up some draft picks this way.  Best part is, these are similar sorts of hitters (Cabrera and Ramirez), so if he can hack it, the peripherals will follow.

And if he can't play short or center, then he can be a super sub for 3 years.

But we'd best start him in AAA, sez me.  I would much rather ease him in and let him digest the States fully before expecting him to perform in the big leagues.  Off the bat, Owens is just as likely to match Ramirez' performance, just because of all the external factors.  Plus we need to see if he can play short.

Plus, I don't really have much problem with Owens for a month or two if we're waiting on something better.  I have a problem if Owens is thought to be some kind of solution.

His little smile pissed me off.

Er. They're similar players...
that was a weird phrasing.  I was trying to say that Ramirez could end up doing an Orlando Cabrera impression from '09-'11, meanwhile Cabrera signs elsewhere and we get the picks.

Yeah
as colin mentioned, if this guy can hack it (in other words play average-ish defensively there) at SS that would be incredible.  It would lock us into cheap and decent production at four spots (Richar, Ramirez, Quentin, Fields -- obviously I'm taking somewhat of a leap here in assuming that none of them flop), and that's not counting any of the rotation guys.

CF...  I'm still holding out hope that one of Anderson or Sweeney turns out okay, or that Shelby accelerates a little bit.

Goldstein thought
he could be up at AA sooner than later, so here's hoping.  He's got a minute K rate, so I'm guessing he's not going to implode.  His walk rate needs serious work and I really hope his power turns out to be for real, so here's hoping.

Pretty confident, since
no one other than Fields has done anything in the Show yet, and Fields still needs a ton of work in cutting down his K's AND in the field (no pun intended).  Locked up is accurate, cheap is accurate - is "decent"?  We'll see.
