Let's be honest...
"Why to support the Bears" from Cheat's
Some reasons to root for the Bears:
Colts Quarterback Peyton Manning maxed out to Bob Corker in 2006, and was a Bush/Cheney donor in 2004. The Bears? Urlacher's sole reportable contribution was to a Democratic congressman.
The Tomasky argument:
[W]ho would you rather see happy: Barack Obama and Jan Schakowsky or Richard Lugar and Dan Burton?
The Bears are a complete team. Much has been made about the QBs, Manning versus Grossman, but check out this factoid:
The Bears won games with Grossman QB ratings of 1.3 and 10.2.
The Colts lost games with Manning QB ratings of 67.7, 98.8, and 135.3 (against the lowly Houston Texans).
Grossman doesn't have to dominate for the Bears to win, since they can also score on defense and special teams. The Colts? They're a one-trick pony. (And no, that pun was most definitely not intended. I was groaning as I typed it out.)
Devin Hester.
Chicago is the venue city for the 2007 YearlyKos conference. And they'll still be celebrating their Super Bowl victory in August.
In any case, the pressure is on Manning and the Colts. No one expects the Bears to win. Heck, people will apparently be amazed if Grossman doesn't trip on the way to his first huddle. And that makes it really fun for Bears fans

Sigh.
I said this two weeks ago.......
Borchard was intense...
For whatever reason, people always conflate poor performance in baseball with "lack of intensity". I think it's rarely the case that lack of effort is the principle reason a player or team fails. It's usually a lack of talent and/or knowledege.
It drives me nuts when people do things like blaming a lack of "Rowand-like" aggressiveness for the Sox demise in 2006. That kind of thinking leads peolple to do things like signing Darin Erstad. It's not rational.
