MLB 2K7

I'm one of the younger guys here and just went and picked up my copy of the new baseball game for xbox 360 and am in love.

I love my great outfield of Sweeney, Anderson and Dye.  I also got Fields on the bench and dropped Mackowiak since they're rated the same. I wish they had Danks on there but i guess i'll stick with Gavin Floyd.

Now i have my perfect team. I might have to try and make a trade for Crawford or Baldelli.

I bet that he's rated well against lefties. ; )
You guys have convinced me to buy this game today.  Xbox 360 in 1080i on my 65" Mitsubishi DLP is almost as ridiculous as Devin Hester.

Crackdown kicks ass as well.

I like it
I hated it 2k6. i got it and played twice and traded it in. But i like 2k7. pitching is by far the funnest part. I still struggle hitting. I pods is by far the worst. i just can't hit with his bitch swing. he's like 1 for 22 on the year

Agreed...
2k6 stunk...the demo for 2k7 wasn't very good.  But so far the actual game is holding up well.  You have to be willing to spend some time adjusting sliders to make sure you're getting a good experience (For example I hate when games are just homer, homer, homer, homer) but once you get your settings right it is a nice little baseball game.

one thing that is pissing me off is that every outfielder is frickin Tori Hunter. Rondell white is makin a Gary Matthews catch (his one highlight catch) like its nothing. I get robbed about 3-4 times per game. oh yea Johan K'd me 12 times

one more question
the wikipedia entry said there was 4 person online Franchise mode, is this true?
Go Badgers!

by shaftr on Feb 28, 2007 11:55 AM CST up reply actions

There are leagues but no franchises
It does support up to 30 player online leagues (i know for sure it supports online leagues...but havn't messed around with it to confirm that the 30 player claim is true) which is a real nice feature if you have a reliable group of guys.

And I do agree that the outfielders tend to be superstars when it comes to making tough catches, just adjust the slider for their range or reaction or whatever down a bit and it'll be a little easier to deal with.  (they do tend to scale the wall a little too often, but again...its all about getting your sliders where you want them).

"No MLB 2K7 for Wii, Take 2 Aims for 2008"

"Wii Baseball"

2KSports' "The Bigs"

Bitterness.
Some people are bitter about Frank Thomas being gone; others about not signing Preston Wilson or Shannon Stewart. I, on the other hand, am still so bitter that there is no longer the MVP franchise (regardless of the fact that one or more of the former EA MVP guys are working on the 2Ks now).
I am Dog the Bounty Hunter.

by Toonderstrook on Feb 28, 2007 12:21 PM CST reply actions

Best move I can remember...
...for a sports game maker was bringing on Ben Brinkman (who was a huge part of the team that turned awful EA Triple Play into the wonderful MVP series).  This is the first year of the turn around process and it shows a lot of promise.  I have a few friends who are just holding on to the last year of MVP and updating rosters every year, but that's more time than I want to put in honestly.

There HAVE been better games made, but the XBox live support and the (hopeful) roster updates that can be provided through that are huge.  And if you really want to own a next gen baseball game, this is totally worth the money.

I've been playing since about 7am this morning (blame it on my first day off work in over a month) and am getting really into the game the more used to it I get.

I got it about a month after it came out and I have nothing but good things to say about it.  Xbox Live is magnificent, I use it for gaming, demos, trailers, movies, chatting, etc.

The game library is large enough now that there are quite a few great games.

We should have a SSS MLB 2k7 tourney.

Go Badgers!

by shaftr on Feb 28, 2007 10:23 PM CST up reply actions

Count me in...
Tournaments are always good times...

As for the 360?  I wasn't a huge fan of the original XBox (more of a PS2 guy) but when price info was released for the next-gen consoles I considered it a huge slap in the face that Sony would price the PS3 so high.

I decided to buy a 360 (based a lot on shaftr's raving about how great it is) and am just in love with the console.  My one complaint is the way that a lot of game makers are starting to view downloads as a new way to make money.  If I pay $60 for a game, I shouldn't have to go online to download locked content, and beyond that I absolutely shouldn't have to pay for it.  But that's no fault of the console.

Buy a 360 though, it's worth it.

360
My PS2 conked out a while ago, and I've been debating whether to buy another or go 360. Obviously, the 360 is superior. But, in my case, I am only going to buy 2 games a year at most(a baseball game and a football game). And I couldn't care less about online gaming. 360 still worth it?

you can do anything from 8 - 30 players...
playing anything from like a 4 - 162 game season and a playoff after that.  Trades and that kind of stuff is on so you can move players.

I think 162 is a bit more than anyone would be up for realistically...but depending on how many people are into playing it could be fun.

But even just doing a few SSS tourneys would be fun.

one bad thing about this game that i just realized. I had a perfect game going into the 8th inning with Gavin Floyd and Joe Morgan would not shut the hell up about the no hits and being perfect. Then sweeney dropped a ball, they got a single, scored a run and I lost the game.

One thing that ticks me off about MLB 2K7...
is that Nick Masset is not in the game as far as I can tell.  I think they did that bogus renaming of minor league guys with similar stats but fake names since they aren't officially in the MLBPA yet.  But Nick Masset pitched 8.2 innings for the Rangers last season so he should be in the game with a photo.  Hopefully a roster update will fix this issue.

by SSH2005 on Mar 1, 2007 8:54 PM CST up reply actions

go online
get the roster update

and he's on it.

Go Badgers!

by shaftr on Mar 1, 2007 10:18 PM CST up reply actions

Couple of questions...
First, can you edit players?  I remember it took me about a month to get going in the best baseball game to date, MVP 2005 (although this new 2k7 will probably take the cake with the MVP developer on board).  I'm really big on editing players.  All told, I probably go through every team and edit five-ten players.  And that's not including the minor leaguers.

Also, what ratings do they have?  Is their one for 'potential', ie for younger players?  That's big for me.

In franchise mode, is their minor leagues?  Are the contracts decent?  I heard that they finally got the money right, but if you call up a young player, do you control him for six years before he's a FA?

by CWSKeith on Mar 1, 2007 10:32 PM CST reply actions

the money
i dont think the money is right yet. I got Dye to sign a multi year deal for like 5 million and i heard they got A-Rods money all messed up with the patch and only have him makin 2.5 mill a year but i'll check it out tomorrow once i sober up
