Around SBN: Will Rhymes 'Fine' After Being Hit By Pitch And Fainting

Joe Crede singlehandedly teaching columnists the definition of Wikiality

First Gammons, now Robothal

Sox third baseman Joe Crede, another Boras client, is a free agent after this season. So is right fielder Jermaine Dye, whom the Sox seem unlikely to re-sign.

Oddly enough
Phil Rogers got it right.  Although he made up for it by confusing Jose Contreras' contract status.

But there must be some
truthiness in there.

I'll let you know when I find it.

It should be called Bill Veeck Park!

obvious
it's wikiality. as a joke, i changed joe crede's wikipedia page to say he's a free agent after this year. i didn't think it would get this far, though. i'm concerned wikiality might turn into reality.

At least they're right...
About Dye.

Iguchi's a free agent after this season, too, right?  I don't see an heir apparent here.

by The Jerry Royster Experience on Feb 8, 2007 2:03 PM CST reply actions

No
He doesn't have enough service time to declare free agency until after 2011.  But he will be arb-eligible.

by asinwreck on Feb 8, 2007 3:39 PM CST up reply actions

correction
He'll be eligible after 2010, not 2011.

by asinwreck on Feb 8, 2007 3:39 PM CST up reply actions

Service time has nothing to do
with Iguchi's contract status.  He'll never be eligible for arbitration.  He will be a free agent after this year.

I'm not sure of the exact rule or terminology used, but I'm about 95% sure that because he signed outside the country instead of being signed within the United States, he skips the arbitration process.

It's why Contreras was due to be a free agent after the initial contract he signed with the Yankees, and why Shingo was a free agent after last season.

Since many don't know the dif,
Maybe you should create a Joe Crede Wikiality page?  There isn't one yet, you know.  That'll confuse the experts even more...

It should be called Bill Veeck Park!

Why would anybody hijack Wikipedia
I personally think its one of the top 3 website on the net, and I will defend it to the end.  Why people purposely put incorrect information up is beyond me.

by chisox on Feb 8, 2007 6:03 PM CST reply actions

Wikiality isn't necessarily about hijacking Wiki
It's more accurately the idea that 51% of people can determine a "truth" whether that truth has any basis in fact or not.

If enough people believe it's true, than it must be.

I bet if you go far enough back in the revisions pages, you'll find it was once widely accepted that the world was flat. ;)

Wikiality:
Truth by consensus, rather than fact.

Cheat, you sound like a lawyer
I once knew.   We were discussing the concept of absolute truth and he said "truth is what you can get a room of 12 people to believe".

(Commence the snapping of fingers.)

Until you get hit with a JNOV
Then the "absolute" truth does seem to matter.
