"(Russell) brings a fastball, anywhere from 91-97 from a couple of different angles. He's a horse, he has good stuff, he can pitch, he's throwing the ball over the plate early in the count to get contact and getting ahead of the hitters. I mean he's done everything that you would want a guy to do to make best of the opportunities he's been given this spring. He has grasped every opportunity. He's a non-roster guy not unlike Boone last year who just kept getting opportunities and cashed in on all of them."

As SSH2005 mentioned, the Sox made the following 7 roster moves prior to today's game:

* INF Josh Fields, OF Jerry Owens, OF Ryan Sweeney and RHP Sean Tracey were optioned to Class AAA Charlotte;

* LHP Gio Gonzalez, C Gustavo Molina and INF Robert Valido were reassigned to minor-league camp.

With the moves, the White Sox have 33 players remaining in camp: 15 pitchers, three catchers, nine infielders and six outfielders.
