3B, too.
Why not Crede @ 3rd and Ozuna @ DH? More options? F options! Pitching and defense - remember Ozzie! Esp. with this offense.

Figures...
Way to go, Ozzie!

See, he watches these posts
We've been clamoring for Erstad to sit.  And now that he's our hottest hitter it's time to sit him down!!

Have you heard of Wally Pipp?  Pods, the courtesy phone is ringing - please pick up.  Luis T. is the new Gehrig!

Whatever happened to "hawkview"
from last year, the most optomistic person since Mr. Rogers?

by winningugly on May 1, 2007 8:24 PM CDT reply actions

wow
can't say I'm excited about tonight's game.
Go Badgers!

by shaftr on May 1, 2007 8:37 PM CDT reply actions

Its brilliance!!!
Ozzy has zenfully outwitted the opposing team even before they played. This should be an easy win.
Hargrove will be unable to strategize a defensive playing scheme to combat the sure  strength of the unkown variables that the Oz has masterfully laid out in front of him. If only we could have seen the look on Hargrove as he saw the lineup.
I only question the wisdom of not having Molina in there too.

by Brush Back on May 1, 2007 8:42 PM CDT reply actions

WHAT IS THIS SHIT!!!
Now that BA goes down, Ozzie finally sits Erstad against a LHP.  I'm sick of his act.
This kid, he had his chance last year.

by ChicagoPete on May 1, 2007 8:44 PM CDT reply actions

We're in a good division!
Tigers 5 - 3 over Orioles, 8th inning.
Twins 8 - 1 over Devil Rays, 9th inning.
Indians 9 - 3 over Blue Jays, 6th inning.

by ballyb on May 1, 2007 8:51 PM CDT reply actions

Texas being no hit again
by Phillip Hughes and the Yankees in the 7th.

by ballyb on May 1, 2007 9:07 PM CDT reply actions

And Hughes is out with a pulled hamstring
with a no-hitter still intact.  Damn, that sucks.

by Dongfang Hong on May 1, 2007 9:17 PM CDT up reply actions

nice jinx there
hurt the guy. at least he still has hit no-hitter, huh.

by larry on May 1, 2007 9:18 PM CDT up reply actions

Maybe it's wrong...
But I was really hoping he wouldn't get the no-hitter just so I wouldn't have hear about it for who knows how long. Just that anti-Yankee bias.

The injury blows. I feel bad for him and now I'll still have hear about Hughes no-hitter for who knows how long.

by hitlesswonder on May 1, 2007 9:21 PM CDT up reply actions

it was broken up
thank you mike myers. a no hitter through 6 1/3 isn't anything to boast about - especially against the rangers.

by larry on May 1, 2007 9:39 PM CDT up reply actions

I never thought I'd say these words, but
why the fuck isn't Erstad out there?  He's the only one who's hitting right now, and we just had an off day.

by Dongfang Hong on May 1, 2007 9:14 PM CDT reply actions

What a terrible lineup
Terrero...the Sox new lefty-killer. And having to play Mack & AJ against LHP..ugh. I don't blame Ozzie for those moves, but Ozuna at 3B?

I think I'm coming to the painful realization that this just isn't a good team.

by hitlesswonder on May 1, 2007 9:25 PM CDT reply actions

Even Seattle
has a Professional play-by-play guy on radio. Is it too much to ask of Reinsdorf to get some legit announcers? We're the Second City, not the Thirty Third City.

by ballyb on May 1, 2007 9:28 PM CDT reply actions

what's the deal
with shitty sox outfielders debuting with homers?

by larry on May 1, 2007 9:42 PM CDT reply actions

Anyone that replaces BA homers
It's just a rule of baseball, set by a higher power who is bent on humiliating anyone who thought Anderson should have received more playing time. That's the way I have it figured anyway.

by hitlesswonder on May 1, 2007 9:47 PM CDT up reply actions

Terrero
his #1 comp is Mickey Mantle
Go Badgers!

by shaftr on May 1, 2007 9:42 PM CDT reply actions

Actually, that's a great comp.
Starts out strong, but sure to get progressively  weaker and weaker until he becomes totally useless.

(I was already going to hell anyway)

by Dongfang Hong on May 1, 2007 9:53 PM CDT up reply actions

Haha!
All of you?  Eat some crow!  Terroro Homer!

I'm sorta lucky I was showering or else I'd join in the "WTF, terroro?  That guy can't hit!" crowd.

...of course, that was his homer for the season, and he'll settle into a nice 0-23 groove now.

by Pander on May 1, 2007 9:42 PM CDT reply actions

Welcome to the Bigs
haven't seen BA do that in a while

by wildsb4 on May 1, 2007 9:43 PM CDT reply actions

Terrero
is now posting a 1.000/1.000/4.000/5.000 line against LHP.

by Dongfang Hong on May 1, 2007 9:45 PM CDT reply actions

Hm
I think that's higher than the combined numbers of all our other starters for the season.

by Pander on May 1, 2007 9:50 PM CDT up reply actions

Crede's hit
some long fly balls lately. Better than the towering pop ups in the infield.

by ballyb on May 1, 2007 10:05 PM CDT reply actions

turning double plays
is it just me or is our ability to turn double plays a lot worse this year?
Go Badgers!

by shaftr on May 1, 2007 10:16 PM CDT reply actions

What happened?
Farmer & Singleton just said that it wasn't in time.  Did Gooch or Uribe double-clutch or something?  Slow developing play?

by beeramid on May 1, 2007 10:17 PM CDT up reply actions

Fast game
We shoul lose this one in less then 2 hours

by tubesox on May 1, 2007 10:30 PM CDT reply actions

Really tanking now
Might be better for the Sox than limping around .500 into July. It would make the firesale decision easy give Williams more time to put trades together.
<rationalization>

by hitlesswonder on May 1, 2007 10:30 PM CDT reply actions

Trade
Do you think the Mets would do Contreras + reliever for Milledge?  Would the Sox do that?  It'd allow them to make a reasonable offer for Buehrle...

by CWSKeith on May 1, 2007 10:37 PM CDT up reply actions

Maybe...
Minaya supposedly wanted pitchers that were more than one year rentals, so Contreras fits that bill. His contract shouldn't be a problem for the Mets. I'm sure he'd want someone younger, but if they in a tight race for a playoff spot he might be willing to bite the bullet and do it. The only wildcard is that Contreras didn't do well in New York before, and that might make the Mets leery.

From the Sox perspective, I'd do that deal if the reliever wasn't from the front end of the bullpen.

by hitlesswonder on May 1, 2007 10:44 PM CDT up reply actions

Firesale?
I think will be in it all year, but firesales only get more prospects and I'm sick of how we evaluate minor league hitting, the pitching has been great, but when was the last farm guy to do anything outside the Thomas-Ventura Era, it even took Crede 5 years to hit over .250

by tubesox on May 1, 2007 10:32 PM CDT reply actions

I'd rather get guys that hit in the minors
Than draft picks. If you get some guys that shown the ability to against AAA or AA pitching that's a step up over some guys out of HS or college. Besides, I trust the Sox professional scouts more than the ones scouting HS/College/elsehwere.

The Sox farm system is so devoid of position prospects that short of having a firesale, I don't see how the Sox can replace departing players with reasonable talent. I'd rather see high-ceiling minor league guys fill positions on the team than cheap free agent retreads like Erstad (I know...he's playing well right now...).

yup
thornton threw it right where aj was setting up--pitch selection so bad even dj commented on it.  of course hawk quickly covered by explaining that ibanez has always been a sox killer.

i'm trying to remember if losing because our pitching sucked was more frustrating last year than losing because our offense sucks this year.  tough call.

by Ryno on May 1, 2007 11:39 PM CDT up reply actions

This is something you learn in high school
Lefties sweet spot is low and in.  They drop the barrel of the bat on the ball and drive it.  Setting up on an 0-2 pitch low and in is stupid.  If you are going to go in, go up and in.
