Single, Solitary Tear for BPJoe

Well, folks, the end is nigh.  After close to a decade in the shadows of Sox Park, Mrs. Joe got a great job in one of those big square states out west with lots of sun, lots of mountains, and not a lot of hours in the office.  So, we're heading out there in the next month or two.

Question: What is the best service to get for Sox games?  DirectTV?

SouthSideSox is a community driven site. As such, users are able to express their thoughts and opinions in a FanPost, such as this one, which represents the views of this particular fan, but not necessarily the entire community or SouthSideSox editors.

Either DirecTV...
or a cable company affiliated with in Demand.  Either way, you'll be able to get the Extra Innings package.

Otherwise, if you have a good internet connection, you can pay for MLB.tv, or sign up for XM satellite radio.

as a non-dish
guy, i've been happy with xm and mlb.tv the past two seasons.

which square state are you moving to? if the bandwidth offered by local phone / cable sucks donkey balls, you may want to pony up for the dish. however, taking your laptop out to your patio with a beer and enjoying the outside during the games is a special reward, as well as being able to not bogart the tv from those less interested in white sox baseball (and hawk and dj).

will you be keeping your handle? or changing it to [square state]Joe?

I'm sure...
...that some of my colleagues read this, so I don't want to be too obvious about it.  But let's just say I have "lofty" expectations--mile high expectations, even--for our soon-to-be home.

Don't know about changing my handle.  I suppose I've lived in the 'Port long enough to earn it.

What is this "LoDo" that you speak of?
Seriously, though, it could be worse.  Mrs. Joe is in a field where we could have had to move to any number of places where they don't have much need for big city lawyers.  At least I'll be able to do roughly the same sort of thing there as here--though for moderately fewer hours and a LOT less money.

Plus, I'm told that I'm absolutely allowed to have an NL team, so long as (1) they're not the Cubs and (2) I make it well-known in advance that my allegiance lies with the Sox during interleague play (I'd add "if they meet in the postseason," but I wouldn't want anyone to spit their beer all over the computer screen).

welcome to the west
And national league territory. I've been out here for years and never could warm up all that much to the D-Backs or the Rockies, altho Coors and environs are pretty cool (way better than phx IMO).

I just live with mlb.tv, which gives you all Sox games when you're "out of market".

The first thing you will realize...
is that Rockies fans suck.  Well, it's not that they suck, it's just that they don't have much history and the local establishments cater to the visitors (i.e. go to the bars around Coors when the Cubs are in town and they will be offering Old Style and "Wrigleyville" specials.).

The best thing is that tickets to Rockies games are dirt cheap.  However, they do have aisle Nazis similar to that of Wrigley (they are all old, and nothing gets them more turned on then to catch someone sneaking into the lower bowl.

Anyways, I would go with DirecTV especially if you want to get the NFL package to watch Da Bears.

Most inexplicable aspect of Coors Field
Not all the vendors serve Coors.  I was there a few years ago and ordered a Coors Light without even looking at the options.  They only had Bud and Bud Light.  I'm sure it has something to do with their concession service's beer contract, but still.

You'll love it out there
I've got some property in Santa Fe, the mountains are a nice change of scenery for a city rat like you and me.
