Solution to roster crunch -- bench anyone that can hit!
In Mark Gonzales' Trib story about Jerry Owens:
Podsednik batted seventh in the first game, and Guillen said he likes the idea of having speed at the bottom of the order...
Darin Erstad is expected to return soon from a minor-league rehabilitation assignment at Triple-A Charlotte. Erstad, however, is another left-handed hitting outfielder. Guillen said the logjam could be alleviated somewhat if Erstad occasionally plays first base to give Paul Konerko a rest.
"If [Owens] continues to play the way he is now, it's going to be a tough situation because I'll let him play more," Guillen said.
That's right, Ozzie wants Owens, Pods, and Erstad in the same lineup. He likes Pods hitting 7th to get some speed there. He's gonna sit Konerko so that Owens, Pods, and Erstad can play. As a bonus, maybe he'll stop playing Mack and his rising trade value to get the No-Power Trio on the field.
I'm not sure this was worth a diary, but I found it amusing and that's what I'm looking for as a fan at this point.

Cintron at 2nd
The 1964 Mets. Or Cleveland Spiders. Or St. Louis Browns. Or the SCRUBS!
Priceless.
All-Time Awesome Lineup
1B - GrindErstad
2B - Cintron
SS - Uribe
3B - Mackowiak
LF - Pods
CF - Owens
RF - Gonzales
DH - Thome only against lefties, and um, Gooch against righties
hmmm
Yah I agree about Mack
send Erstad to Birbingham and bring up Sweeney
"Those guys there give me more opportunities to make stuff happen, give more life in the lineup. You can play the game a little bit the way I like to play the game. Right now, we don't know what kind of move we're going to do -- if we're going to stay with Jerry. If [Owens] continues to play the way he is now, it's going to be a tough situation because I'll let him play more."
You are Nostradamous
Use your powers for good, not Evil!
Owens, Erstad, and Pods...
I dunno, maybe you could slide Mack or Ozuna (pre-injury) or Terrero, or Gonzalez back there... and it might be worse, but it might actually be better.
Does anyone remember when JD played part of an inning at SS in 2005?
It's not really related to this, unless you want to argue it's similar in that JD was at a position he shouldn't be in, much like Owens, Erstad, and Pods in the OF all at once, but I just remembered that. It was really, really funny. My Cubbie roomate called me into the room, as he was watching the game, with
"Dude! You gotta see this! Ozzie just put Jermaine Dye at SS!"
Classic.
Man, I'm always juicing... the past two weeks...
Imitrex is a wonder drug.

I tried Miller Chiill the other night
8 Chills?
Nah, it's not something you can just drink on all night, you'll find yourself going back to Bud light like you said... mmmm... Bud Light... it's my safety blanket. Whenever I try a bad beer, I can go back to Bud Light and be fine.
But Chill is delicious in small quantities. Like about any other flavored beer.
Purple Haze by Abita? Great stuff. Can't drink more than like 2. Magic Hat, an apricot flavored beer? Tasty... gotta stop at like 2 or 3.
K cider? mmm... now that is delicious. Too much though gives ya heart burn, and it's kinda a girly drink anyway.

Haha
I'll probably catch an at bat
This prescription they gave me... Imitrex... Guess how much it costs?
$225 for 9 tablets. That's what CVS charged. My insurance made me pay $175 of that. If that ain't ridiculous... man... I dunno what is.
