Solution to roster crunch -- bench anyone that can hit!

In Mark Gonzales' Trib story about Jerry Owens:

Podsednik batted seventh in the first game, and Guillen said he likes the idea of having speed at the bottom of the order...

Darin Erstad is expected to return soon from a minor-league rehabilitation assignment at Triple-A Charlotte. Erstad, however, is another left-handed hitting outfielder. Guillen said the logjam could be alleviated somewhat if Erstad occasionally plays first base to give Paul Konerko a rest.

"If [Owens] continues to play the way he is now, it's going to be a tough situation because I'll let him play more," Guillen said.

That's right, Ozzie wants Owens, Pods, and Erstad in the same lineup. He likes Pods hitting 7th to get some speed there. He's gonna sit Konerko so that Owens, Pods, and Erstad can play. As a bonus, maybe he'll stop playing Mack and his rising trade value to get the No-Power Trio on the field.

I'm not sure this was worth a diary, but I found it amusing and that's what I'm looking for as a fan at this point.

Cintron at 2nd
Uribe at SS, Hall/Molina at C, Gonzales in RF.

The 1964 Mets.  Or Cleveland Spiders.  Or St. Louis Browns.  Or the SCRUBS!

Priceless.

Can anybody here play this game?

Jerry Owens: putting the 'suicide' in suicide squeeze.

Yah I agree about Mack
When I was putting up the lineup of suckitude I was half tempted to put Ozuna (on crutches) there

send Erstad to Birbingham and bring up Sweeney
merkin:
Manager Ozzie Guillen always has been an advocate of using as much speed as possible in his lineup, with speed the one intangible that rarely, if ever, goes into a slump. That particular theory could feature a two-month rotation in left field and center field involving Owens, Podsednik and Darin Erstad, once Erstad's sprained left ankle recovers sufficiently during his current Minor League rehab stint. Guillen mentioned Erstad also could get some time at first base, giving Paul Konerko an occasional rest, or in right field to spell Jermaine Dye on occasion.

"Those guys there give me more opportunities to make stuff happen, give more life in the lineup. You can play the game a little bit the way I like to play the game. Right now, we don't know what kind of move we're going to do -- if we're going to stay with Jerry. If [Owens] continues to play the way he is now, it's going to be a tough situation because I'll let him play more."

Owens, Erstad, and Pods...
= the worst OF ever. In the history of MLB. EEEEEEEEVVVVVVER.

I dunno, maybe you could slide Mack or Ozuna (pre-injury) or Terrero, or Gonzalez back there... and it might be worse, but it might actually be better.

Does anyone remember when JD played part of an inning at SS in 2005?

It's not really related to this, unless you want to argue it's similar in that JD was at a position he shouldn't be in, much like Owens, Erstad, and Pods in the OF all at once, but I just remembered that. It was really, really funny. My Cubbie roomate called me into the room, as he was watching the game, with

"Dude! You gotta see this! Ozzie just put Jermaine Dye at SS!"

Classic.

Man, I'm always juicing... the past two weeks...
have just been prescription pain medicine, though. Been having migraines every damned day for the past two weeks. 15 straight days. Had my first CT scan today, will know the results Monday.

Imitrex is a wonder drug.

I tried Miller Chiill the other night
and was not impressed. I was tasting too much lime and not enough beer. After my 8th one i had to make the switch to Bud Light. I watch as many movies as possible so I know most quotes.

8 Chills?
Jeeeeezus. That's quite a bit of lime and salt for one evening.

Nah, it's not something you can just drink on all night, you'll find yourself going back to Bud light like you said... mmmm... Bud Light... it's my safety blanket. Whenever I try a bad beer, I can go back to Bud Light and be fine.

But Chill is delicious in small quantities. Like about any other flavored beer.

Purple Haze by Abita? Great stuff. Can't drink more than like 2. Magic Hat, an apricot flavored beer? Tasty... gotta stop at like 2 or 3.

K cider? mmm... now that is delicious. Too much though gives ya heart burn, and it's kinda a girly drink anyway.

Yea i felt dehydrated
I could of stopped after the 3rd but we needed to finish them off. Bud Light tasted so damn good after that. I never tried any of those other ones.

Ahh, you should
sometimes it's cool to mix things up with a flavored beer. i don't know anyone that drinks them exclusively, however. it'd be like eating flavored popcorn all the time. who does that?

Haha
just messing with you Shoeless. Unfortunatly I won't be able to see Richar's debut tonight because I will probably be unconscious. I will be drinking Bud Light, Miller Chill is offically retired.

I'll probably catch an at bat
but these migraines are just godawful. Can't watch much TV at all.

This prescription they gave me... Imitrex... Guess how much it costs?

$225 for 9 tablets. That's what CVS charged. My insurance made me pay $175 of that. If that ain't ridiculous... man... I dunno what is.

I do the same thing...
I drink a few Chills and switch to Bud Light.  Miller Chill is good but if you drink to much of them they start tasting disgusting.
