Jake Peavy Available

What would it take for the sox to land Peavy.  Everyone who is a fan of this team thinks we need speed and I agree, but I feel the one thing this team is really misssing is a bonafied number 1.  I know our minor league system is thin, but is there any way Kenny on the Phones can pull of a trade.  I know we have no chance signing CC.  And i wouldny want us giving Burnett or Sheets a  long term deal with their health issues.  What do you guys think?  Would a pakage bulit around Poreda get it done or no way?

Not gonna happen...

Peavy has already said he’ll block any trade to the AL.

Not so fast....

Report: Yankees, Padres talking Peavy
Jake Peavy – S – SD – Oct. 17 – 11:33 a.m. ET
The Newark Star Ledger reports that the Yankees and Padres “have had preliminary discussions” about a Jake Peavy trade.
Peavy has said that he’d prefer to remain in the NL, but his agent indicated that he’d accept a league change to certain AL teams. Expect to hear just about every mid- and high-payroll team in baseball linked to Peavy once the offseason gets underway.

Peavy is a very good pitcher

But he’s no Santana, how quickly strategy changes in New York. I’d expect an ERA around 4.00 in the AL East and many disappointed Yanks fans. Of course that would be a very good year assuming he throws around 200 innings, but it’s not elite like they’d probably expect. But park and league factors contributed heavily to his 2.86 ERA.

His peripherals have faded the past couple years as well.

He had no offense behind him, either,

though I can’t argue with park/league/peripherals much. If he pitched 200+ innings with a 4 ERA he’d go 17-10 at least, barring injury. They could use that.

I think i did this wrong. Oh well…..delete my votes as they all suck anyway.

Jake Peavy

Jake Peavy said he would like Chicago. But, i just don’t see him in a black uniform. The Sox also don’t have what the Padres want in their farm system. They don’t have a superiour centerfielder in the farm. They could trade Swisher or Anderson. But, Ozzie likes having them around. It might be possible though.
