Open Positions? What the hell are we going to do?
Seems that there are at least two infield positions (not including backup catcher if we don't get Hall back), one outfield, possibly one starter, and a lot of the bullpen that needs work.
For the infield I think Getz comes up at second and Fields for third. Are we not going out and doing something big because the only trade that's worked out for us recently is Q's? I've read some people want to go out and get Chone Figgins for third. I'm all for that if there isn't a leadoff hitter that will play second. That would also show that we're probably giving up on Owens.
Centerfield is going to be interesting because we can go with Swish, give the job back to Anderson, or go with Owens if he's healthy. Swish can't play center well enough, Anderson couldn't hit sand if he fell of a camel, and Owens isn't consistent. What centerfielder can we or should we get? Any ideas?
I would love for Contreras to be able to come back and be effective. Who thinks we should just give up on Jose and hand the job to Richard or Broadway? What free agent would be a good fit?
As for our bullpen I hate Dotel. Why the hell we continue to trade with the Royals is beyond me. So other than Jenks, Linebrink, and Thornton, what the hell are we going to do!?

Would show that we gave up on Owens?
Owens is not part of any discussion, players you will see starting in CF over Jerry Owens:
Swisher
Wise
Anderson
General Soreness
Alexei Ramirez
Olney Guillen
Darrin Jackson
Literally just about any free agent on the market.
Just because you hate Octavio Dotel doesn’t mean those in charge of the White Sox do, he’s still an essential part of the bullpen. They are going to stick him in high leverage situations and have him strike people out, because that’s what they paid him to do.
Chris Getz makes sense to me at 2B, or Uribe, it doesn’t really matter, whoever it is will probably be batting 8th or 9th.
Even with no trades, they don’t have that many holes compared to most teams.
1B) Konerko
2B) Getz / Uribe
SS) Alexei
3B) Fields / Uribe (I would consider this the biggest hole on the club)
LF) Q
CF) Swisher
RF) Dye
C) AJ
DH) Thome
Bench: Anderson, Wise, Uribe / Fields / Getz, Hall and another infielder picked up off the scrap pile.
Richard takes Contreras spot in the rotation, I thought Contreras would be out until next August. For a number 5 Richard is probably average enough assuming Danks doesn’t crash to earth after his innings increase.
Bullpen when healthy was serviceable.
They don’t have to do anything drastic for another year, and they need more time to restock that farm system anyway. I’d probably move Vazquez or JD when their value is still high to get younger at a few spots but I’m not really sure what they’d get for either.
Realistic trade possibilities in my opinion, JD for a pitcher, Vazquez for a CF / 2B / 3B who fits Ozzie’s lead off mold, and maybe then sign a CF / 2B / 3B middle of the road player.

BRIAN ANDERSON
BRIAN ANDERSON has a weenie for a manager who for some unexplained reason never gave the guy a solid chance to go out there & play CF for a string of 10 or 15 games & give him the encouragement that any young player in MLB NEEDS from his manager in order to step up to the next level..instead all he ever got was 2 or 3 games in a row.. sit down for a week.. if any EGULAR everyday player got the same treatment, they too would end up in the toilet both MENTALLY as well as physically.. when your manager has the lowest of low opinions of you.. you might as well stay home.
BRIAN ANDERSON showed signs of busting out a couple times, only to get put back down at the end of the bench after doing a little something..i predict BRICKHEAD OZZIE
will do evrything in his power to send him out of town this winter.. & he shouldn’t have
any problem findin takers for ANDERSON.. he is the #1 guy other teams ask about.. the minute he goes he will become a rocksolid everyday player somewhere… when that happens people will be scratching their heads wondering why he couldn’t crack the lineup in chicago.. it wasbecause the manager never did like him & even though he was ready to bust out, BRICKHEAD OZZIE never gave him the chance.. i remeber him getting in the only game the SOX won vs the YANKEES, hit a HR in the 8th.. next day- back on the bench . that was his season in a nutshell. a new home for ANDERSON
Brickhead Ozzie?
One of the best managers in baseball? That same Ozzie?
Brian Anderson is the number one guy other teams ask about? Where do you see this? How do you know this is true?

Look at the name, he's KINGCOACH!
fer chrissakes, grinder in training, clearly you should do some research.
;)
this isn't hard. you live in a port city. and you're a slut. do the math. -larry
KingCoach should be an official title
Like the manager who wins the World Series this year gets to be called KingCoach for the duration of the following season. So, like “King Coach Joe Maddon said today he will trade Evan Longoria for a stuffed spinach pizza from Giordanos.”
"I’m gonna rise up, gonna kick a little ass. Gonna kick some ass in the USA. Gonna climb a mountain, gonna sew a flag, gonna fly on an eagle. I’m gonna kick some butt, gonna drive a big truck. I’m gonna rule this world. I’m gonna kick some ass. I’m gonna rise up, gonna kick a little ass. Rock, flag, and eagle!"
The reason I hate Dotel
Maybe I shouldn’t say hate, but it seems that almost everytime he comes in he gives up a few runs. Whether they are his or inherited it just always seems to happen. Out of the 72 games he was in this year, he came into the game with runners on 56 times. His ERA shoots up from 1.62 with the bases empty to 5.88 when someone is on base. He just always makes me nervous.
just to add a final kick in the ribs.
white sox pitching
era with runners on: 6.97
era with none on: 1.62
So all our pitchers are routine chokers you say?
