What's wrong with Sonnanstine?

I've read numerous times that the Rays have offered Jackson or Sonnanstine for a hitter including offering them for Dye.

I think that Sonnanstine would be an improvement for the Sox over Vazquez and is a very solid middle of the rotation starter. Yet, I heard that the Sox turned the Rays down on the deal. I don't understand. To me that seems like a darn good return for Dye.

If the Sox want more I think they should ask for Balfour also. If they have to throw in a prospect it would be worth it because he could either give the Sox a lights out bullpen or become the closer and allow Jenks to be moved for a nice haul.

Anyway, I would still rather have a sure thing in Sonnanstine than a big ? in Homer Bailey.

Sonnastine would probably require dye + another prospect

Brian Anderson might be desirable as a quality all around 4th OF as well to them. I doubt they want Dye that badly at all with Crawford, Upton and Joyce already in the fold.
