was really what i’ve been looking for. looking at attrition rates for prospects is really critical stuff. they are significant assets, but nailing down expected value has been tough. what i would really like to see is year by year tracking. what percent of B prospects in AA bomb out? what stay B prospects and advance? how many turn into A prospects? etc.

he spent all his money last year rebuilding our bullpen with vets. He has never shown he is willing to go young. He is a competitor, he is going to sprinkle young guys in with a good mix of veterans. Only 1 year (2007) did KW not field a competitive team.

R/9, WHIP, K/9, HR/9 for the last 3 years:
F-rod: 2.54, 1.21, 11.4, 0.6
Jenks: 3.21, 1.14, 7.98, 0.5
F-rod kills jenks on runs allowed, k/9 while jenks is only marginally better on WHIP and home runs allowed. Keep in mind with Jenks strikeout rate likely to decline, his WHIP isn’t going to be too sexy anymore.

I may not peruse the stats that you do, but on occasion can, and do, provide perspective (on trades and strategy, e.g.) vs. seamhead interpretations that I admittedly am deficient in (simply because I don’t have the interest in dissecting to the n’th degree). I posted my opinion on the Cabrer trade from lat year for a reason – because I was pretty close to being right. I was also right on Che. So as far as not “providing anything insightful” I take issue with your definition of “insightful”.

2009 White Sox spring training schedule
The Sox will play their first game at Glendale on March 1, with the Dodgers designated as the home team. The Sox play their first home game the following day against Seattle.
All games are scheduled to start at 1:05 p.m. Arizona time, and there are no split-squad games.

i'm not so sure..
purely speculation, but didn’t reinsdorf derive much of his wealth through the real estate market? Who knows how this economy has impacted him and his group financially? I think its very possible we are looking at most a 75m payroll for the next year or two. Outside of 2006-08 I don’t recall the white sox being characterized as huge spenders (albert belle aside).

As much as anything, perhaps, the White Sox apparently will be free of Vazquez’s contract, which was to pay him $23 million over the next two seasons. This winter, rival GMs have reported the White Sox are shopping nearly every big salary on their roster. To that end, first baseman/outfielder Nick Swisher (another in Guillen’s doghouse) was dealt to the Yankees and Jermaine Dye is being shopped to, among others, the Reds. Teams also are being told the White Sox will take offers on first baseman Paul Konerko and DH Jim Thome.

I guess....
You can call it ignorant but, i support the team. When i disagree with personnel or coaching moves, i still go to games. When the team is 20 games under 500, i still go to games. I watch the team good and bad, and cheer for them no matter what. It doesn’t mean that i don’t criticize them or agree with what their doing. I just feel that going through the bad makes it that much sweeter when they win.
Doesn’t anyone else feel that the team was stale..?
And if your going to trade off a few veterans for prospects doesn’t it make sense to do it all at once. So that you have a large group of prospects developing together?

Hmm - I always thought you got season tickets to maintain your seats
and hopefully, on rare occasion – get the chance for post-season. Because of economic reasons I cut down to one, as did a friend of mine, who moved his seat in my old #2 seat. The Sox had no isue, so it appears they are happier to have you on a limited basis, than not at all.

I was just speaking of my personal philosophy. It makes complete sense for some people to base your season tickets on your economic situation.
I know people who base their interest in a team by how well they are doing and, it is something that i can’t stand to see. Bandwagon jumpers.

i consider myself to be a true fan
but my level of interest does go up and down based on how well the sox are doing. i always want them to win, and i will always go to games but during a season like ’07 i wasnt watching every game or spending as much time on this site.
