All-Time White Sox DH
First off, thanks to everyone who voted yes. Feedback on what I could do to better these would be appreciated. This will be the first of my pieces for picking the best representative for the White Sox at each position, thus making an All-Time White Sox team. As it says in the headline, I'll be covering the DH first. I wanted to put up 5 players, but only found 4 even worth mentioning (even though I'm pretty sure we all know who will win). So without further ado, here are the four candidates (no, I will not give Jurassic Carl consideration).
Frank Thomas
We all know Frank Thomas. The man is the franchise leader in OBP, SLG, OPS (duh), Runs, TB, 2B, HRs, RBI, BB, K, OPS+, RC, XBH, and SF. Basically, if you could pick one player to represent the team he would probably be the choice for most of us. He played 959 games as our DH and recorded 957 hits (3 game-ending), 208 doubles, 196 homers, 643 RBI and slash-line of .278/.402/.511/.913. His numbers as a 1B are even more impressive.
Harold Baines
Eeyore before Paulie, Harold had his number retired by the Sox over a decade before he actually retired. We then signed him as a free agent and proceeded to trade him away again (pretty much ruining his chances at the HoF). He is our current first-base coach and moonlights as his own statue out on the concourse. Harold ranks third in franchise history in homers and RBI. A right fielder for the early part of his career, bad knees forced him to DH. Harold DH'd for the Sox in 602 games and here are the numbers he posted: 650 hits (30 game-ending), 134 doubles, 76 homers, 370 RBI, and a slash-line of .292/.369/.460/.828.
Greg Luzinski
After I stopped laughing at how goofy I thought this guy looked, I decided to look up some stuff on him because I've never heard of him. Apparently, Greg was born in Chicago but played the majority of his career in Philadelphia and even won a ring there in 1980. Too bad that doesn't count towards this poll. Greg DH'd for the Sox from 1981-1984. In those 512 games, he posted the following numbers: 491 hits (19 game-ending), 90 doubles, 83 homers, 311 RBI, and a slash-line of .264/.360/.450/.810.
Jim Thome
I love that picture. Anyways, The Gentleman Masher came over to the Sox around Thanksgiving of 2005 in a trade the sent the Legend and Gio Gonzalez (temporarily) to the Phillies who needed to clear room for Ryan Howard. So far he has DH'd in 398 games for us, with that number almost definitely increasing next season. He's given us the following: 372 hits (9 game-ending), 71 doubles, 108 homers, 286 RBI, and a slash-line of .266/.394/.549(!)/.943.
Now we vote, and please feel free to give feedback on what I could improve or what you would like to see in the next ones. Thanks.

I voted for Thome
But only because I’d put the Big Hurt at 1B instead of DH.

a solid reason
because if Frank wins this, he won’t be on the 1B ballot

3 game ending hits?
evidence? even if i believe that inflated number, i’d bet all three were either in 1994 or in games when the white sox were already eliminated from playoff contention.

Funny story
My yougest sister used to be afraid of fireworks when she was little. Every time Frank’s name would be announced she would give us a look of fright and cover her ears while cowering. Pretty funny stuff and a story we love telling her friends and boyfriends

This is really stupid
Obviously the guy posting is inept as Frank Thomas is clearly the best white sox first baseman. Thomas played more games at first base than he did at DH while in a White Sox uniform. Harold Baines is easily the best DH. The guy never heard of Greg Luzinski? Good lord….if someone is going to create a poll it should be someone who is over 13 years old. Christ sake.

I bet he didn't win back-to-back-to-back-to-back little league championships either...

I'm an old guy,
And I voted for Greg “The Bull”.I,ll never forget the mammoth “Roof Shots” at Old Comiskey. When the ball left his bat,it looked like it was going straight up like a pop up that never came down.Gotta go with Big Frank at 1B.

in my defense
1. I agree that Frank is the best 1B, but I’m not going to completely disregard what he did as a DH. By your logic I should not have included Baines in the DH list either as he played 995 games as a RF for us as opposed to 602 as a DH. Frank only played 10 more games at 1B than he did as a DH for us. So I guess that’s my reasoning.
2. Honestly, why would I have heard of Greg Luzinski? I’m 20 and he really didn’t seem to contribute that much to the team. I did my research on him and I posted his numbers. There are going to be a few players that I haven’t heard of. I’m gonna do my best to look them up before I post on them.
3. I appreciate the list a few comments down. I’m going to continue using the link that Wiz posted as that’s what I did for this, but the majority of those players will be appearing.

Favorites
1b- Frank Thomas
2b- Tadahito Iguchi
SS- Jose Valentin
3B- I suppose Robin Ventura but I really haven’t liked any sox 3rd baseman all that much in my lifetime.
C- Ron Karkovice
LF- Ron Kittle
CF- Lance Johnson
RF- Ivan Calderon
DH- Harold Baines
RHP- Lamarr Hoyt
LHP- Mark Buehrle
RHRP- Bobby Thigpen
LHRP- Juan Agosto (don’t ask why he was terrible. I think its because they played Axel F when he came out of the pen)

It's Frank Thomas.
Bat him 2 and 6. He’ll never be on base when it’s his at bat anyways.. he’ll have cleared the bases with a home run.
Plus worst case he gets walked and stuck on base for his next at bat.. we add a special category. Ghost Runner for Frank Thomas.
Aparicio, Raines, Johnson and the great Jerry Owens can battle it out.
