A shock, an absolute shock,
Ramirez starting ahead of Anderson in CF for 2nd day in a row.
Was that a ground out to 2nd for Owens?
This is...
very likely the Opening Day lineup, right here.
I'd be pretty surprised if Anderson gets the starting CF job in Owens's absence.

Might as well get used to it
I actually agree with JRE here - It appears he's been starting less lately, and being put in later in the games. Hopefully that's just to get a better read on the others... (LOL)
So instead of a big splash, there were ripples -- enough to change the tide, Williams believes
Wiz,
what happened to the Owens groin topic?

'lil help
Can I get a couple helpful users to rec the NCAA thread? Games start again tomorrow, and it's been buried.

I'd help if I knew what you meant.

Cheat does too

Hey, make up your mind
as far as your monogram goes. Are you "A"(sshole) l(arry), Esq., or "V"(indictive) "A"(ss), already?
I took the "under".
There is a flag button

But that just kicks the comment/post into a moderation cue. Even though I've got the threshold set ridiculously low, I doubt I'll ever see much in the moderation area of the backend

in the end of that page
do you see a bunch of icons? email, print, ..., ..., rec
rec is for recommended
I clicked on the "rec" icon
and it switched to "unrecomended". Is that what you want?

Our lineup had so much potential...
now it looks no better than last year.
Ozuna leading off, Swisher batting fifth, and Crede still in the lineup. It will be even better looking with the Tasmanian Devil in there. Disgusting. What a failure.
um
"no better?" you're kidding, right? swisher over erstad? ramirez over iguchi? cabrera over uribe? those are the primary (only?) differences from opening day last year. sounds good to me.
even if you think the rest of it's a wash
i'm not interested in running the numbers but it probably is about that, the difference between erstad and swisher, using the rough tool of MLVr, over 162 games is 51 runs. or "monumental".
I believe you are misinterpreting.
I was responding the same time as you to SSH, with essentially the same feedback.
I took the "under".
Fumble!!

Well, I meant that our lineup could be much better than it is going to be...
But why did you go from having no faith in Ramirez to thinking he is going to be better than Iguchi? You thought he should start in AAA, didn't you?
And when you look at Cabrera over Uribe, you have to also factor in that Uribe is still in the lineup. It is really Cabrera over Richar.
it really shouldn't be hard
to outdo the roughly 85 OPS+ those two combined for last year. or the, what, 80 that we got from that position overall.
i didn't say he'd be better
i said the others were probably a wash. and i never said i had "no faith" in ramirez.
Yeah, but
Williams said most of our guys had down years last year and that he doesn't expect that this year. Also, the Tigers had to go out and get Miggy and Willis so they could try and contend with us this year.
No worries.

You're kidding, right?
Ramirez > Erstad, Swish >>>Pods, Cabrera > (little) Uribe, Uribe < Iguchi.
What's the problem? Looks like an upgrade to me. As I shout from the mountaintop, it's the pitching, stupid (takeoff on a Clinton quote - don't personalize).
I took the "under".
No doubt
this team has alot of positions unsolved. But the focus for the next 2 months should also be on 3 dead heads. Dye, Konerko, and Pierzynski. And if Thome bats against lefties, add Ozzie to that list of dead heads. I wonder how many of the 5 mentioned will still be here when the seasons over.
You're right.
Those guys need to feel some heat.
Looks like Floyd in the zone
Yea - the construction zone. 2 HR, hit a batter...
So instead of a big splash, there were ripples -- enough to change the tide, Williams believes
No doubt
about it, these team will contend. With KC for last place.

Look - our new CF
So instead of a big splash, there were ripples -- enough to change the tide, Williams believes
When do I get my props, dammit?
I had him in CF all along. I don't care if he is the 2nd coming of Mack out there - he can learn, and he can hit.
I took the "under".
No doubt
this team desperately needs Ramirez in the lineup!

Hey , the Brewers #1
is getting the crap knocked out of him.
Only ST : )
Was that a ground out to 2nd for Owens?
I'm glad
all signs point to us not living and dying by the long ball (on both ends) this year.
I am glad to see Jim grooving it, though.
(saw this line on JD's spring on Sox Machine yesterday: .183/.234/.350, 11/60, 3 BB, 18 K -- stick a fork in him)
9 hits : (
But 7 Ks and 0 BB : )
Was that a ground out to 2nd for Owens?
Better than
4 HRs in 5 IP. And he's an all-star.
Swisher's batting
about .068 after the first 2 weeks of games.
Was that a ground out to 2nd for Owens?
Yeah, but
his swagger has to be worth at least 150 BA points. Which still hardly clears the Mendoza line...
Hm...
Now they're saying that Dotel is the culprit.

It was Dotel.
Is that better or worse than if it were MacDougal?

No doubt
Dye and Konerko haveto be two of the most intimidating hitters in baseball. They either strikeout , single, hit into a DP, or hit a solo HR. Hardly ever a HR with men on base, a double, or a triple, or advance 2 bases on another hitter's single. Guess that's why they get the big bucks!
So, Hall comes in...
and in, what, two innings, allows two stolen bases and commits an error.
But he says he's fine, so that's okay with me!

What a effin joke
Was that a ground out to 2nd for Owens?
No doubt
this teams as ready as its ever gonna be!
No doubt
you can bench Konerko(RHDH), move Swisher to first base. And put Quentin in the OF. Start going with youth!!
well guys
after this spring training loss, time to unload everyone.
