Nick Masset: An Appreciation

those thirty-nine and one-third innings last year were something special. WHIP just a touch below the 2.0 barrier. ERA over 7. that beating he took by the cubs. that beating he took by the twins. that beating he took by the royals. that beating he took by the blue jays. that other beating by the twins. that beating he took by the indians. i'm sure i'm forgetting some because he had so many great implosions. all in less than 40 innings!

thanks, nick. i'll always remember how KW said you had a great fastball. and that one time you pitched okay. and now we get to enjoy more beatings!

what's your favorite nick masset memory? and can he top last year's numbers?

oh, man

i will never forget that one day when he looked like a professional baseball player. in retrospect, of course, those 5.2 innings of mediocrity only look good relative to the rest of the innings of shit.

i'm not going to call this my favorite memory of nick masset, though, because i know my favorite memory hasn't happened yet, but i'm guessing it will on saturday.

That's it!

96 km per hour converts to 59.65 mph. That explains a lot.

Third game of the season last year

when Buerlhe got hurt in the 1st or second inning. Masset replaced him and pitched masterfully against the Indians, a team that had beaten our brain in each of the previous 2 games.

Was that a ground out to 2nd for Owens?

Wait...

I though SoB said he pitched really well against the Cubs?

i'll unrecommend your ass so fast...

our agreement should extend to anything prefaced by "fan".

I forgot about the ease of unrecommending.

Fine, Larry, but I'm only recommending this because Nick deserves the memorium.

i'm reminded of antitrust

and how cartels and other price-fixers need to be able to punish transgressors.

and this is an appreciation, not a memoriam. that may or may not come later in an edit.

Thank the Lord there's a contrary post at the end

I was about to stroke out at the lovefest. "Click me and I'll click you". Sheesh. larry, I wasn't aware of your "soft" side.

;)

I took the "under".
