live box score shows 18 mph wind
straight in from center. Maybe we'll see Ozzie ball tonight?
and seriously, should I know the third baseman?
Next time, Bhoov, do some research.
three 2-out hits equals 2 runs for the Rangers
Though it sounds like Royce Huffman (who?) was unable to field "a slow dribbler" which allowed the two runs to score.
AIM: SouthSideCheat
Alexei Ramriez with another hit
As long as he can keep away from Walker we should be fine.

We are ready for the regular season.
Stranding runners in scoring position

The Rangers figured out how to own the Sox
start a lefty reliever. best of both worlds.
AIM: SouthSideCheat
Have we checked with Skilling
For the sightings of last years perfect storm. I mean its going to be cloudy because our "sparkplug" is on the DL. But I fear total eclipse with the amount of lefties we face in the first week.

I'm predicting snow until June
looks like he's got it warmer than normal for the Sox first homestand...

Good news for the fans of the Count
"Lute Olson regained total control of the Arizona men's basketball program this week, after taking the season off to deal with the stress created from going through a divorce from his second wife."
See, when women be messin' with your mind you can be workin'.
I took the "under".
march madness
that's why they play the games.
"This has been a very long campaign so, occasionally I am a human being like everybody else. Last week for the first time in 12 or so years, I misspoke."

maybe you should "service mark"
"White Sheet Trade" for when/if Konerko gets traded.
Next time, Bhoov, do some research.
swish showing those classic leadoff skills
making the pitcher throw a lot of pitches. way to work the count.
the law of conservation of masset: no matter how much masset you use up, there is always masset in your system.
Juan Uribe = Ted Williams this spring?
Too bad he will inevitably turn back into his Tasmanian Devil self once the season starts, corkscrewing himself into the ground on every swing.
Juan Uribe + ST = Stripper + you with money
Juan Uribe + regular season = Stripper + you have no money

So now that BA made the team
He can go back to not hitting and striking out a lot...
I often wonder if he does well in AZ is because they are day games and he can see the ball?
no matter how much masset you use up, there is always masset in your system.
Bets on who's first to go down (to the minor leagues)
no matter how much masset you use up, there is always masset in your system.
Anderson or Quentin
The minute Jessie come up, one of them goes down. Because of the combo of speed, grindy, and spark plug = super offense.

quick question:
how many games did he sit in the last week or so?
I only ask because it seems he's headed for another 17 AB April after which he'll be deemed a failure.
Next time, Bhoov, do some research.
If you think that is sad
Just imagine when one of Quentin/Anderson are joining Fields in AAA while the grindy groin OPSs around 600 in Centerfield while the other of the Quentin/Anderson crew get a few ABs here and there.

I don't know - but he hasn't been playing a lot the last week or so
and when he was it seemed like a late inning sub. Maybe that was the final test, see how much he complained about sitting on the bench. Oz wanted to get a good idea on how he could deal with his new position.
no matter how much masset you use up, there is always masset in your system.
17 would be a pretty productive first week.
Owens is supposed to be due back on the 7th...
Anderson led all of baseball in ST at-bats with 46 half way through spring. So he's gotten about 20 (including tonight) in the last couple weeks.
AIM: SouthSideCheat
I think Anderson
will be lucky to get 5 - 7 ABs in the first 7 games.
All the ST ABs were to attract interest and then unload him.
Was that a ground out to 2nd for Owens?
Thats including BP before the games
no matter how much masset you use up, there is always masset in your system.
Cutting him off.
Painful to watch.
Was that a ground out to 2nd for Owens?
Make that 3 - 5 ABs in the first 7 games.
Was that a ground out to 2nd for Owens?
Thats still including BP before the games
no matter how much masset you use up, there is always masset in your system.
Already set aside my tickets for that day (and the hat day)
no matter how much masset you use up, there is always masset in your system.
Paul Phillips to PR for Paul K
Think Oz will put him at first - Toby part2
no matter how much masset you use up, there is always masset in your system.
Shoud make Toby play 1st again.
Was that a ground out to 2nd for Owens?
He did put Phillips at first...
no matter how much masset you use up, there is always masset in your system.
But Toby's got the experience!
Was that a ground out to 2nd for Owens?
Just need Toby to dive to his left
no matter how much masset you use up, there is always masset in your system.
The formula for Ozzie still works
2 outs, man on first automatic steal attempt.
by southsideirish71 on Mar 28, 2008 8:55 PM CDT reply actions
Hell you have a pitch out in that situation
And you get our runner at least 90% of the time

Juan - 3rd stolen base of ST
Dis keed iz fast - no wonder he got the job - tied with Jason for the Sox ST lead.
no matter how much masset you use up, there is always masset in your system.
At least 2 guys have to cut the ball
if Owens is out there doing the same thing.

Defense is an overrated.
Was that a ground out to 2nd for Owens?
Its that ability to be the sparkplug that counts
no matter how much masset you use up, there is always masset in your system.
Well here is the real question
What does Owens bring to the table. I mean he doesnt walk, doesnt go deep into the count and cant hit the ball that well. If speed is so required, why can't Alexei lead off and play 2nd, have either Swish in CF and Quentin in LF or Swish in LF and Anderson in CF.

Welcome to life as a White Sox Fan
I think this pretty much sums up all of SSS member's thoughts since spring training started.
by Grinder in Training on Mar 28, 2008 9:29 PM CDT up reply actions
Agreed, best possible offensive lineup that Ozzie would make...
2B Ramirez
SS Cabrera
DH Thome
1B Konerko
CF Swisher
RF Dye
C Pierzynski
3B Crede
LF Quentin
He would still have his speedy leadoff hitter at the top and his guy who can "handle the bat" in the #2 spot but I would take it because there's no Owens or Uribe in the lineup.
And facing lefties
move Dye to DH
Quentin moves to RF
Anderson moves into CF and Swish moves to LF
Thome takes a rest
by southsideirish71 on Mar 28, 2008 9:36 PM CDT up reply actions
best line up
best line up would be
2B Ramirez
CF Swisher
DH Thome
1B Konerko
RF Dye
3B Fields / Crede
C AJP
LF Quentin
SS Cabrera
by Grinder in Training on Mar 28, 2008 9:36 PM CDT up reply actions
I would like this lineup...
RF Quentin
CF Swisher
DH Thome
1B Konerko
LF Dye
3B Fields
C Pierzynski
SS Cabrera
2B Ramirez
Alexei
with "a remendous throw" to nail a runner at home... Marlon byrd tried to score from second on a single and Alexei apparently got him at the plate on a close play...
I'm slower, but more descriptive than wiz
AIM: SouthSideCheat
Alexei breaks a lot of bats
RBI broken bat single two pitches after a 'if it's fair it's gone' strike...

It sucks that the Sox game isn't televised...
but watching Ted Lilly get absolutely TEED-OFF on by the Mariners ain't so bad. Haha...
Hawk is being interviewed on the Radio
Trying to convince everyone that we are a good team, with a great pen.

"But this effin groin injury to Owens
really hampers our offense."
Was that a ground out to 2nd for Owens?
It will be an embarassment when Grindy Groin
Comes back, and they move someone who has actual talent down to AAA to make room for a 40 yard dash specialist. Now if we were competing for the 4 x 100 sure Jessie is on my team. But really he is a 4th OF for maybe the Knights.

White Sox charities made an announcement today
that all 2008 WSC proceeds will go to U of California Berkeley Medical Center which is a leader in research of a promising new procedure - groin replacement. Ongoing trials have proved promising in mice.
Was that a ground out to 2nd for Owens?
We're not?
Help! My groin's fallen and I can't get it up!
Joe Crede is a key component to the 08 club
There is no better 3rd baseman in the game than Joe Crede
Quotes from Hawk. I wonder if anyones has seen Bagdad Bob and Hawk at the same time.
"There are no American's in Bagdad. Those are not tanks, those are cars with smoking guns." Bob

jeez, listening to hawk
you'd think we're overwhelming favorites to win the series
"there isn't a better 3rd baseman in the game than joe crede"
The problem with this is
Stupid people think Hawk is some sort of authority on baseball. They listen to him say stupid things. This is why we have people like Crede's crew calling up the radio and trying to have mythical trades of every player based on Hawk saying stupid things like that, with the comparisons to Brook Robinson. Crede is medicore with good defense and compares to Pedro Feliz. Yet people think that Crede and Arod are even based on goofy's misrepresentations of the truth.

"Hi John from Elmhurst, you're on WSCR 670 The Score"...
John from Elmhurst: "Durrr, yeah... I'd rather have Crede over dat A-Rod guy. A-Rod isn't clutch like Joe. What has A-Rod ever won?"
Is Der Any way
Dat the Giants would be up for a trade.
Fields + Anderson + Swisher for Rowand.
I like Fields and all, but Crede is clutch and if we got Rowand this team might catch that 05 magic again. I will hang up and listen to your answer.
by southsideirish71 on Mar 28, 2008 9:54 PM CDT up reply actions
Actually if Crede hit the roids
Instead of popping up to the 2nd baseman on the infield. The 2nd baseman would have to move out about 10 feet to catch one of his many pop ups.

MacDougal must want Masset to make the team...
Watch Kenny use MacDougal's last option to keep Masset on the roster.
NO BBs.
That's all that's important.
Was that a ground out to 2nd for Owens?
Overrated ; )
Was that a ground out to 2nd for Owens?
Wow, Lilly and the Cubs are getting raped by the Mariners in Las Vegas...
Lilly has given up 3 bombs in 2.0 IP. 5-0 Mariners.
Santo and his toupee
Are probably on suicide watch.
by southsideirish71 on Mar 28, 2008 9:57 PM CDT up reply actions
Watching Lilly give up all of these homeruns is making him a little weak in the knees...
Bad joke, sorry.
Well with cubby logic
Its just the standard dribbling hole finding ground balls, and when the wind changes giving up cheap home runs because God hates the cubs and their best fans ever.
On another note has anyone seen Hawk and Santo at the same time.

Wasn't Swisher a "extra base machine" early in ST?
Batting mas o menos .043 in last 3 weeks.
Was that a ground out to 2nd for Owens?
BA - 0 for 4 w 2 SO
Last 4 games not a good indication of BA going forward:
3/28 - 0/4 2 SO
3/27 - 0/2 2 SO
3/25 - 1/1
3/24 - 03 2 SO
Looks like he'll be first down
no matter how much masset you use up, there is always masset in your system.
First down isnt the issue
Its the fact that the Grindy Groin will be inserted back into the lineup the minute he is healthy.

I'll bring the awesome.
Your right - I stand corrected... what can I say
Help! My groin's fallen and I can't get it up!
now you're stealing signatures?
the law of conservation of masset: no matter how much masset you use up, there is always masset in your system.
Actually...
I pre-emptive stole it... I took it immediately after your comment. I however quickly grew tired of it and have since changed it.
