Anyone know
Why Ryan Dumpster shakes his glove twice before throwing the ball? I know he is trying to find a way not to tip his pitches but I can see him getting lazy and this gesture becoming counter productive. Where is everyone today?

my wife really enjoys the name "civil rights game"
she's wondering if it's blacks v. whites, whether the whites get to use hoses and attack dogs, and which side the latin and caribbean players get to play on.

But to each his/her own.

it should probably be called "the geriatric game"
these must be the two oldest teams in baseball, right (or at least two of the oldest)?

I can see why you would then feel that this name is unoriginal. I actually heard some old baseball guy talking about Willy Mays' nickname. I guess they used to call him "Willy Mays, where triples go to die". Apparently he used to catch anything hit within a football field of him.

i've always thought
a good theme day at the ballpark would be "random player's throwback jersey day." i think we've all got one. i may break out the old esteban loiza one someone gave me. there's this guy i see frequently at the cell who has a daubach jersey. i'm not much for white sox gear so i don't have as extensive a collection as maybe i should. i'd bet there are some old guys who have some really random crap.

Yeah, that would be fun.
Although, the extent of my Sox gear is one t-shirt, one sweatshirt, and one cap. That's it. I'm amazed every time I go to the park at some of the jerseys people wear. It's like...you know if someone's wearing an Ozuna jersey it's because they have about eight other jerseys in the dirty laundry.

Contreras could only pass for good on days when he wasn't scheduled to pitch last year.
AIM: SouthSideCheat
Joe Morgan
shut the f*** up!
I, too, was taught karate by an old asian man who was the maintenance man in my building.
That's about 800 feet worth of hits today for Beltran
How many games would it take Jesse to reach that total?
AIM: SouthSideCheat
A few observations
Contreras has looked pretty good so far.
Dye looks even slower than last year out in RF.
That leg injury appears to have sapped the speed out of Ozuna. Not even trying to turn his hit into a double and then getting thrown out easily attempting to steal. If he doesn't have any speed he is even more worthless than before.
Offense looks horrible.
Ozuna does'nt bother me.
He may be slower but he does'nt hurt you much in the field. He plays alot of positions. gets hot at the plate during some games. and surprises with extra base hits once in awhile. He's the first one to get a hit today. Plus he's cheap!
Ozuna doesn't hurt in the field
Is there a single position on the diamond where he's an average defender?
AIM: SouthSideCheat
Exactly
He's pretty brutal in the outfield and not very good in the infield. He doesn't have much range. His arm is decent I guess.

surprisingly, catcher
the law of conservation of masset: no matter how much masset you use up, there is always masset in your system.
That's a tough call
but if you'd want his streaky bat in the lineup you haveto put him somewhere. I'll tell ya one thing, I'd rather have him play at third once in awhile. Some would rather have Fields there, and Fields is no better. Fields is a pathetic defender at 3rd or the OF. Fields fits into the Strikeout or HR group. As a spot player Ozuna's alright.
there you go again, cherry-picking numbers
the law of conservation of masset: no matter how much masset you use up, there is always masset in your system.
Ozuna is a "streaky bat"
It's been a bad streak. But when he gets hot, he'll carry us for a year and a half or 2.
I, too, was taught karate by an old asian man who was the maintenance man in my building.
I hope Quentin
has a good start. He's got good power to the opposite field. Could hit 25-30 HR's at Sox park.
