Here's hoping...

for a wonderful year.

Even though I'm not optimistic, it's still good to have baseball again.

by The Jerry Royster Experience on Mar 31, 2008 1:33 PM CDT   0 recs

Baseball!

Boy, that lineup sure looks a lot better than that sludge they were running out there the last few months of 2007. Go Sox!

by ChicagoPete on Mar 31, 2008 1:33 PM CDT   0 recs

I just received word that they've removed some functionality

from our gamethread feature for today...

The boxscore should appear at gametime at the top of the site, but I don't think it will be auto updating winthin the gamethread itself...

Sitting at the top of the thread, they decided it wasn't worth the server strain -- updating every few seconds -- It could be back in a more prominent place soon.

Rain to appear in the 4 o'clock hour EDT

Wasn't Ozuna supposed to play 2B and bat 9th?
Maybe the lineup will change again?

Next time, Bhoov, do some research.

by Chiburb on Mar 31, 2008 1:38 PM CDT   0 recs

because the three batters behind him are better?

That and I think it was influenced by his

ST RBI total... He drove in some runs. And #6 is about driving runs according to the Sox

Precisely

As much as Ozzie loves his vets, this is the equivalent of saying Ramirez is better than AJ, Crede & Uribe.

by ChicagoPete on Mar 31, 2008 1:49 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

considering what he's said about ramirez, that shouldn't be a surprise

i personally don't think uribe is high on ozzie's list. and i have this suspicion that crede isn't, either. aj is obvious considering his handedness.

Ozzie's evaluation skills

Setting aside his fetish for basestealers/speedy slap hitters, I'm starting to think that Ozzie is a better talent evaluator than I had previously given him credit for...or at least better than Williams perhaps. I hope he's right about Ramirez.

by hitlesswonder on Mar 31, 2008 1:55 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Of course you sit the guy

with a .990 OPS against CC. Gotta play the guy that's .573.

Unbelievable.

by ballyb on Mar 31, 2008 1:59 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Go with the guy on a roll

and see what happens.

I took the "under".

re: ozuna

like I said, ozzie can't overcome his love for profundo!

Cheat: re the left rail roster...

Never mind, I figured it out.
Thx for not answering.

Next time, Bhoov, do some research.

It will fill up with our own data in time

Just '08 stats this year. Possibly more in future...

Thank god the real game is about to start

I'm sick of always having to sit through Royals on opening day.

I didn't realize till now

how bad the Sox lineup looks on paper. Especially against LHP. Here's hoping Buehrle brings his A+ game.

by hitlesswonder on Mar 31, 2008 1:53 PM CDT   0 recs

Hey, could be worse

Just imagine Angel Gonzalez and Luis Terrero in there instead.

by ChicagoPete on Mar 31, 2008 1:54 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

That is the same feelin I had on opening day last year

I recognize that this is a bad lineup, but I see Fields, Quentin, Anderson, move Ramirez to 2B -- I see the possibility of a good lineup

AIM: SouthSideCheat

by The Cheat on Mar 31, 2008 1:59 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I'd definitely like to see a younger lineup out there

Looking at who the Braves had out there last night made me drool. But, hey - Ozzie Guillen isn't going to develop players for some other manager mang.

by ChicagoPete on Mar 31, 2008 2:01 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I agree

Fields and Quentin with Ramirez to 2B would make the lineup look a lot better in my eyes. I hope the Sox make those moves before September.

by hitlesswonder on Mar 31, 2008 2:06 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Let's go, go, go White Sox.

Line-up's lookin' pretty damn good if you don't consider that they're facing Sabathia!

Here's to a great season. At this point all I can ask is that they're competitive into August.

mlb audio

Is it working for anyone else?

by shaftr on Mar 31, 2008 2:05 PM CDT   0 recs

sure would be nice to have

Josh up for today...

How exactly would it be to bring up Josh just for the top notch lefties? Can we bring him up and down anytime we want or not so much?

dude, that was totally not swish you saw on rush street last night. swish was at home playing xbox.

by colintj on Mar 31, 2008 2:05 PM CDT   0 recs

The way to do it

Is to call one of Ozuna, Uribe, or Ramirez into Ozzie's office and tell him that he's moving on to someplace else (Ramirez presumably to AAA). And then call up Fields for the duration of the season.

by hitlesswonder on Mar 31, 2008 2:08 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I want Josh to get 500 PA though

he can't hit lefties.

by onthemark12 on Mar 31, 2008 2:12 PM CDT   0 recs

I guess...

Thome's never getting benched vs. a lefty now.

ps

Is MLB.tv not working for anyone else?

by onthemark12 on Mar 31, 2008 2:12 PM CDT   0 recs

i just bought a subscription

is it really blacked out based on your home zip code? that is crap. i just tried changing mine based to one in ohio.

by hugh on Mar 31, 2008 2:17 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Yeah, it is

but I changed it to my school account in Boston, and I just get the blue MLB.tv screen.

by onthemark12 on Mar 31, 2008 2:18 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I've never

had a problem with it before though.

by onthemark12 on Mar 31, 2008 2:18 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

that is such crap

what good is mlb.tv if i can't watch it at work.

by hugh on Mar 31, 2008 2:19 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

The way it should work...

is based off of the location of the IP address you're coming in through. Try an IP masking website. I know my company is smart enough to trust your IP address over the zip code you enter. I imagine MLB is that smart as well.

Reasons why Cleveland is lame:

1) Still booing Thome.

2) Wearing throwbacks on Opening Day.

In other news: Comcast road game HD looks like crap.
