Here's hoping...

for a wonderful year.

Even though I'm not optimistic, it's still good to have baseball again.

Baseball!

Boy, that lineup sure looks a lot better than that sludge they were running out there the last few months of 2007. Go Sox!

by ChicagoPete on Mar 31, 2008 1:33 PM CDT reply actions

I just received word that they've removed some functionality

from our gamethread feature for today...

The boxscore should appear at gametime at the top of the site, but I don't think it will be auto updating winthin the gamethread itself...

Sitting at the top of the thread, they decided it wasn't worth the server strain -- updating every few seconds -- It could be back in a more prominent place soon.

Rain to appear in the 4 o'clock hour EDT

Wasn't Ozuna supposed to play 2B and bat 9th?
Maybe the lineup will change again?

Next time, Bhoov, do some research.

because the three batters behind him are better?

That and I think it was influenced by his

ST RBI total... He drove in some runs. And #6 is about driving runs according to the Sox

Precisely

As much as Ozzie loves his vets, this is the equivalent of saying Ramirez is better than AJ, Crede & Uribe.

by ChicagoPete on Mar 31, 2008 1:49 PM CDT up reply actions

considering what he's said about ramirez, that shouldn't be a surprise

i personally don't think uribe is high on ozzie's list. and i have this suspicion that crede isn't, either. aj is obvious considering his handedness.

Ozzie's evaluation skills

Setting aside his fetish for basestealers/speedy slap hitters, I'm starting to think that Ozzie is a better talent evaluator than I had previously given him credit for...or at least better than Williams perhaps. I hope he's right about Ramirez.

by hitlesswonder on Mar 31, 2008 1:55 PM CDT up reply actions

Of course you sit the guy

with a .990 OPS against CC. Gotta play the guy that's .573.

Unbelievable.

I didn't realize till now

how bad the Sox lineup looks on paper. Especially against LHP. Here's hoping Buehrle brings his A+ game.

by hitlesswonder on Mar 31, 2008 1:53 PM CDT reply actions

Hey, could be worse

Just imagine Angel Gonzalez and Luis Terrero in there instead.

by ChicagoPete on Mar 31, 2008 1:54 PM CDT up reply actions

That is the same feelin I had on opening day last year

I recognize that this is a bad lineup, but I see Fields, Quentin, Anderson, move Ramirez to 2B -- I see the possibility of a good lineup

AIM: SouthSideCheat

by The Cheat on Mar 31, 2008 1:59 PM CDT up reply actions

I'd definitely like to see a younger lineup out there

Looking at who the Braves had out there last night made me drool. But, hey - Ozzie Guillen isn't going to develop players for some other manager mang.

by ChicagoPete on Mar 31, 2008 2:01 PM CDT up reply actions

I agree

Fields and Quentin with Ramirez to 2B would make the lineup look a lot better in my eyes. I hope the Sox make those moves before September.

by hitlesswonder on Mar 31, 2008 2:06 PM CDT up reply actions

Let's go, go, go White Sox.

Line-up's lookin' pretty damn good if you don't consider that they're facing Sabathia!

Here's to a great season. At this point all I can ask is that they're competitive into August.

The way to do it

Is to call one of Ozuna, Uribe, or Ramirez into Ozzie's office and tell him that he's moving on to someplace else (Ramirez presumably to AAA). And then call up Fields for the duration of the season.

How much faith do any of us have that Masset can keep this a three run game? Anytime Masset is in you're basically conceding the game -- if the Sox have so much faith in their offense, they shouldn't be conceding a five-run game.
