Of course I was at Friday's game.
I shouldn't complain...that was the first White Sox loss I've attended since 2004!

That means
You must not have gone to many games last year, or your just very lucky.

8-0 last year.
I was hoping they would lose every time I went in the second half, so I wouldn't have the streak going into this season!

No shit
I had a pretty impressive record from '03 through the first part of '06...
But since then, I think I've only attended 1 win (over a span of close to but less than 10 games)

He's been rather unimpressive* in two High-A starts
and that he wasn't assigned to AA is a bit tell (though Oakland has a lot of pitching)
* from what we came to expect from him last season.

He just manned up and did what any grinder would do, turned down all those scholarships and pulled himself up by the bootstraps.
Way to go SoB, taking the MAN'S route to higher education. Scholarships and financial aid are for pussies!
Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

If you havn't noticed
Scholarships are a little hard to come by unless you play division I football or academically gifted. Anyways to make sure I had health insurance I needed to hold down a FTJ. Apparently this "special learner" has proven most of you wrong to begin this season. I guess you could call me an idiot savant!
by Where Triples Go to Die on Apr 14, 2008 1:31 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
All in jest, SoB
Perhaps you are an idiot savant. You do say some crazy things around here, but I don't think posting on this blog paints a full picture of a person's intellect, so I'm not going to make a judgement. At least you were smart enough to know health insurance is a good thing to have.
And bravo to you for paying your way through school. But ask yourself this: if you were in a position where your parents were willing to pay for your post-secondary education, wouldn't you take advantage of that? I would take that in a heartbeat. Although my parents weren't in that position, I don't fault those whose parents were. Hell, I hope to be able to pay for college if or when I have kids.
Also, there are scholarships available to people that aren't super jocks or valedictorians, but you have to search them out. I know that the VFW used to sponsor a scholarship based on giving a speech on what America means to you and that there's money for people of Italian, Greek, etc. decent, FWIW. Your high school counselor should have pointed things like this out to you, but few know of these opportunities themselves.
BTW, the schools that I've attended essentially required every student to have health insurance and provided health insurance to those not already covered with a relatively small increase in their student fees. I understand it's a little late for this info, but if you go back to school, you can probably go back full time without completely losing health benefits. Something to look into or information to pass on.
I am certainly glad the Sox have been outperforming my pessimistic predictions, and kudos for you for having an optimistic disposition coming into this season. I wouldn't gloat too much, however, unless you made accurate predictions of why the team is winning - decent D, high OBP, production from AJ and Crede, lack of Jerry Owens, good pitching from Danks and Floyd, etc.
Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

Now, now, Toonder

Bring on the A's....
three consecutive days of lefties as we'll get Greg Smith and than Eveland M-T.
Smith was 3ER in 6IP in his only start (replaced J. Duchscerer sp?) and Eveland (acquired from ARZ for Haren) has shut down both Toronto and Cleveland.
I noticed Smith walked 5 in his only start....
Even though I know Alexei is likely soon headed to North Carolina I'd like to see him get a start either M-T...and also how about a RF start for BA for Jermaine on M-T???
