I'm not sure that it matters.
I used to agree that Frank being “clean” was a badge of honor, and for fence-sitters should be the factor that pushes him into the HOF. Now?
It seems to me that fans just don’t care whether a guy juiced or didn’t, and the recent deal between the Players Assn. and MLB indicates they don’t either. As with so much of today’s world, illusions trump reality: if we just pretend that everyone is clean (going forward), we can sweep “that era” under the rug.
Probably not my final thoughts on the issue, but this is where I am now.
