Pieryznski...
took something of a beating in last night’s game, and the game went awfully late.
I didn’t expect him to be in the lineup tonight.
Really, this is not an issue of playing Pierzynski more often – he plays plenty often. It’s about lacking even a decent backup.

Why cant we just bring him up, and release Hall. Seriously, Hall = the suck

true, thats a good point. and i don't take issue with aj's playing time, either. i just think in light of the weaker lineup
i would rather give aj a rest when jd gets back in the lineup. 1/3 of that lineup is pure crap. that’s crazy in the aL.
Ozzie's Comments Before Tonight's Game
He hopes JD is back Sunday, maybe Monday after straining his groin sliding into home plate and then doubling in his next at-ba last night. When asked about his skill as a clutch hitter vs. Joe Crede’s:
“Mine were bloopers. Joe’s are legitimate.
“But for this organization, the best hitter in the clutch was Harold Baines.
“It;s important that you have the same approach to each at-bat and not try to do too much. Then it’s a little of being in the right place at the right time.”

Alexei
I really hope he can hit himself into 2B. When JD gets back, put Lexi at 2B, and then let Uribe come in for late inning defense. When can we finally get the DF instituted in baseball?
Wait
Why is Danks listed in the matchups. Just a goof-up?
yeah
thanks, i’ll fix it now

Wiz, lineups: yours or JRE's?

I looked on mlb.com
and it seems sbn is correct
either way no big difference…

How About Anderson
Start BA in CF – sit Uribe – play Rameriz at 2nd. Both Rameriz and BA need some playing time.

did you see my message to you in the
recap thread earlier?

Yep, those 14 at bats tell it all.
I was talking defense anyway.

C, you should've seen him
Ugly. Overmatched. In Florida! (Similar to AZ, but with humidity.)
Late-inning “D”, an occasional start. That’s it.
I took the "under".
domes vs dunes. 72 vs 85.
as for humidity, at least FL is a wet heat.

BA Needs More
Than what he got in Florida. Though, I think this should be his last chance. Play him enough to really see if he can repeat what he did in training camp. If doesn’t cut it – send him packing. Trade him while he still young and we might be able to get something in return. Of course if he doesn’t perform he probably won’t be worth much. But, you never know.
my objection to the lineup is
Alexei in CF. I could take, even welcome him at 2B. But (once again) shouldn’t MB be pitching with a real CF behind him? Also, has Hall become MB’s caddy or is it my dementia that makes it seem he’s always back there for Mark?

More like Buehlre is Hall's shroud
They’re (smartly) trying to hide Hall’s obvious faults by having him catch Buehrle and start against LHP.
AIM: SouthSideCheat
ah. MB's pickoffs negate Hall's noodle.
though I think I recall Hall starting against a rightie or 2.

Why a real CF and no real 2B?
Mark is a GB pitcher – I think it’s more important to have solid IF play. Alexei will be tested more at 2B playing behind Mark, and he’s less adept there.
I took the "under".
only because I value CF D more than 2B
we’ll see.

RHP Brandon McCarthy had a setback and still has inflammation in the muscle near the elbow. The best-case scenario is to have him throwing by the All-Star break.

anyway, off to Cancun in the morning. Then to Vegas late in the week. Don’t let the kids burn the place down while I’m gone, WU.
One more thing: keep Owens down on the farm for at least another week, ok?

Ozzie mishandles pitching staff again
Starting MB tonight was a mistake considering the weather forecast. Should have started Massett and saved Buehrle for the inevitable double header tomorrow.

I’m at work a bit north of the stadium and it hasn’t been raining for awhile. But maybe there’s lightning I can’t see in my tiny view of the outside world?

masset to start sunday?
Buehrle should get a little rest after pitching just one inning before the rain came Friday. John Danks is to start the first game Saturday with Nick Masset slated for the second.
