Let's get started

I am glad to see Buerhle rather than Massett. I wonder how this was decided since it was said before this afternoon’s game that Massett would be tonight’s pitcher.

is 'walk thome, face paulie' standard procedure now?

The greatest trick the White Sox ever pulled was convincing their fan base that "Ozzieball" ever existed.

What is more difficult on a fan

2005 with the huge lead and watch it melt away as the season ends or 2007 when we were out of it early in June and struggled through the entire season? Each of the years caused a great deal of stress until we had 11 wins in the playoffs/

by floridajim on Apr 26, 2008 6:26 PM CDT reply actions

2007 you knew not to bother before the game began!

Why in the world can't

our hitters learn to punch the ball away against left-handers. maddening.

what a bitch!

that was supposed to go out dammit

Paul Konerko running is delightful.

Continued poor plays plague

our Sox Pauli with an easy play just boots it and Pablo who seems be involved in one of these misplays frequently cannot make the turn on a double play whether it was Pablo or Cabrera’a fault we were lucky. But these guys are paid to get it right. Cinch it up and hunker down-what does that mean?

Nice

And I was just about to complain about his power numbers

by hitlesswonder on Apr 26, 2008 7:37 PM CDT up reply actions

Back to Florida's comment about the DP debacle...

I agree.
In fact, I haven’t seen ANYTHING outta OC at this point to even come CLOSE to giving up a pitcher like Garland for…

by swishit on Apr 26, 2008 7:36 PM CDT reply actions

So, really, I'm happy Pablo got paid

But I’d rather see the Frenchman or Fields or Owens on the Sox bench….

by hitlesswonder on Apr 26, 2008 7:36 PM CDT reply actions

What's wrong with Hawk?

This is the first time I can really recall him not doing the put it on the board call after a Sox HR when he’s present. Sure, sometimes it’s DJ manning the booth solo and calling em, but Hawk was right there and silent.

Part of a retirement thing? Doesn’t like it any more? Brain taken over by aliens?

by Pander on Apr 26, 2008 7:36 PM CDT reply actions

he stepped out for a smoke

either that of he was flirting with Nancy…

by swishit on Apr 26, 2008 7:39 PM CDT up reply actions

Haha, strike-em-out throw-em-out?

Did More jog to 2nd? Or walk? Cause it looked like AJ hesitated a half second before realizing Mora was going.

by Pander on Apr 26, 2008 7:50 PM CDT reply actions

Now...

th th th THAT’s a double play!!

by swishit on Apr 26, 2008 7:50 PM CDT reply actions

We better run

the end of the world must be near with that strike-em-out throw-em-out. That doesn’t happen often with us. But it was certainly needed.

by floridajim on Apr 26, 2008 7:51 PM CDT reply actions

Although AJ is maddening at times I surely feel better with him out there than Toby

We must be able to bring up someone to relieve Toby but I do not see them in the system.

by floridajim on Apr 26, 2008 7:53 PM CDT reply actions

CQ cannot be talking with Walker, can he?

While Swisher seems to be listening to him, before this game at least.

by floridajim on Apr 26, 2008 7:57 PM CDT reply actions

Thome, Paulie, AJ, Joe...

Speed is a relative term. The only guys we have with any objective semblence of speed are the ones who can’t hit at all.

by Pander on Apr 26, 2008 8:01 PM CDT up reply actions

Really?

Cause the Sox are top half in OBP and top 10 in SLG%. Their BA is low, but honestly who cares so long as they remain #8 in runs scored (with fewer games played than any other team).

by Pander on Apr 26, 2008 8:26 PM CDT up reply actions

I care

when PK comes up with bases loaded and 1 out -
and hits into the inning ending DP.

And that doesn’t help the OBP, nor does it help the BA.
And losing the previous game 5-1 sure doesn’t add points either.

by swishit on Apr 26, 2008 8:31 PM CDT up reply actions

The game is very slow for Buerhle

I’ll bet he is upset with Trachsel’s pace.

by floridajim on Apr 26, 2008 8:01 PM CDT reply actions

Dear Lord...

Surely you must have a purpose for Brian Anderson. How about a clue?

by RoyEgan on Apr 26, 2008 8:01 PM CDT reply actions

Brian seems to be damaged goods anymore...

Ozzie messed with his head too much, and now he can’t seem to find his groove.
Too bad too, ‘cuz he looked promising in spring training…

POOF!

There goes Buerle’s efforts down the drain.

by swishit on Apr 26, 2008 8:32 PM CDT reply actions

Asshole pitcher

That’s gonna leave a mark on CQ’s leg…ouch!

by swishit on Apr 26, 2008 8:47 PM CDT reply actions

Why is it Ozzie

seems to change pitchers after the damage is done. Logan gives up 2 hard hit balls, a run is driven in. And a Rh bat comes up. Why not Linebrink then. I know they won a WS with Ozzie. But his handling of pitchers and his ability to keep his team in the game is pathetic!

by SoxfaninAZ on Apr 26, 2008 9:00 PM CDT reply actions

This will Anderson's last game for awhile.

He hit 2 solid shots, but Ozzie will put him back on the bench1

by SoxfaninAZ on Apr 26, 2008 9:07 PM CDT reply actions

DJ mentioned that you don't want to use up your reliefers

because the Sox won’t be getting a break for awhile. Well , tie games use up your relief pitchers too!

by SoxfaninAZ on Apr 26, 2008 9:14 PM CDT reply actions

Who would have bet on that?

It looked bad for us and Bobby was “pitching” that is not throwing his heater, when he throws his heater I feel more comfortable but he got into a jam and out of a jam, good for Bobby!

by floridajim on Apr 26, 2008 9:17 PM CDT reply actions

Gee...

anyone think Thome or PK or AJ will come through for us here?

by swishit on Apr 26, 2008 9:17 PM CDT reply actions

but he wants a hit so bad he’ll swing at anything.

1st GWRBI

ever for BA?

I took the "under".

by winningugly on Apr 26, 2008 9:36 PM CDT reply actions

In Ozzie's Eye's

..until Anderson produces offensively at a big league level, he will always be deserving of the slap to the back of the head, followed by the requisite Ozzism – “Gould job keed.”.

And Guillen isn’t wrong here, IMO. At least PRETEND like you’re a major leaguer and not some frat boy with daddy’s credit card.

by floridajim on Apr 26, 2008 9:36 PM CDT reply actions

Like I said earlier

he doesn’t suck…he’s just damaged goods, thanks to Ozzie’s BS coaching antics.
He’d be AWESOME on another team…trust me.

by swishit on Apr 26, 2008 9:40 PM CDT up reply actions

not gonna trust you on that one. you put 2 + 2 together there and got 10.

Owens may not even take BA’s job on the bench!!!

Long time South Side Sox lurker...

...first time posting.

Wow, what a game! I thought Crede was going to be the hero there in the end, seeing as it was his birthday and all. But then again, Crede got to be the hero on Thursday night. And I can’t think of an another player on the team I would have wanted to see knock in that game winning run.

Thanks BA!

Wassermann

looked real good last year. Dotel, on the other hand, is an overpaid piece of shit. I can really see Dotel moving to MacDougal’s role and Wassermann becoming 7th/8th RHP setup. Plus Wassermann’s style would be quite the change of pace from really any of our other relievers.
