yes

after I typed I saw the extra b in red, but then I saw it before the b, bs, and left it!

The greatest trick the White Sox ever pulled was convincing their fan base that "Ozzieball" ever existed.

So,

We are apparently very well matched against the Orioles. That can be thought of as either a good thing or a bad thing…

by krushcuts on Apr 28, 2008 6:04 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Rather

the Sox had 16 (or more) BR’s and only two runs to show.
So I’d say we should kicked these guy’s arses.

Steve Stone's great

“With Adam Jones, you have to be really careful with the fastball.” And then he doubles first pitch.

Fahey hit a slow roller to short

and with the field conditions, OC just couldn’t play it to first. But Jones took a wide swing around third, and Cabrera got it to Crede who applied the tag.

fucking ozzie!

stop fucking “managing” us out of opportunities!

by MarketMaker on Apr 28, 2008 6:16 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Other than Thome, his team quit on him in the second half of 06.

In 07 his middle reliefers and hitters sucked. But i do think a manager affects player confidence and probably 10-15 close games.

by SoxfaninAZ on Apr 28, 2008 7:33 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

No, its just in the latter part of 06 they had a great chance

to beat Detroit at the time at home. Thome responded, others did’nt much of anything. Its harsh i know to say they quit. But when the opportunity was there they hardly put up a fight.

by SoxfaninAZ on Apr 28, 2008 7:56 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Don't get me wrong, i think Konerko's and Dye are class acts. I just get frustrated , not seeing

a more potent attack from the middle of the lineup. They had a good start, I just don’t want to see them fall into some old 07 patterns.

2.5 that I can think of

this one, the hit and run with ocab when cabrera wasn’t around the plate, and half a gaffe for bringing in jenks to face roberts. that one isn’t indefensible.

i'm still upset

That is just ridiculous. Does Ozzie realize that a deep fly or a hit would win the game? There was only 1 out. What is our % of wining the game with 1 out and a runner on 3rd?

Ozzie should have realized Brian wasn't going to get anything...

to hit. That call was unnecessary. They were going to walk him and try to get the DP. If anything, he should have called it with Uribe who would have better pitches for that.

BA was actually very lucky to get that pitch to bunt....if you are a gambling man...and obviously

by The Wizard on Apr 28, 2008 6:24 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

So if Anderson K's, the worst that can happen is that Uribe is up with 2 outs...

With a suicide squeeze play where Quentin is running home regardless of what happens at the plate, the worst outcome is a double play if he misses the bunt.

My God, Ozzie is mentally retarded.

by SSH2005 on Apr 28, 2008 6:26 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Postgame

I’m really curious how Ozzie is going to justify that call. “I thought a low-percentage attempt at a squeeze by a batter who can’t bunt was a better option than just giving him a chance to put the ball in play?”

by the wolf on Apr 28, 2008 6:26 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

by the wolf on Apr 28, 2008 6:28 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Ozzie is managing a team that's plays other than the way he prefers. Its a station to station team, that thrives off the long ball.

Ozzie wants to be more creative, like other teams do. KW did’nt build that kind of team. And Ozzie and Chicago just haveto live with it.

by SoxfaninAZ on Apr 28, 2008 7:38 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Total Spoiler

But last night I caught a sweet foreshadowing when Carcetti goes to the Zorzi the veteran political reporter from the Sun with the story about the postponement of the academy classes (to save money in the budget). He makes an inside joke about how “the new city editor (Gus!) wants a piece on reforming the liquor board”—but of course the vets know thats impossible so Carcetti and Zorzi just chuckle at Gus’ (and the Mayors’) expense.
