you are all over it

and since this isn’t going to count as a game, it really lowers the expected quality of the game recap, right?

so how does this work now?

do the orioles just fly back here on an off day and they finish the game from where it was suspended?

by Jbasic89 on Apr 28, 2008 6:50 PM CDT reply reply   0 recs

What makes the most sense is that they pick this up on June 23....

We are here and off…they play Sunday in Milwaukee and then Tuesday at Wrigley…so will they really pick this up in the of the 12th or just play it all over????

by stanchar on Apr 28, 2008 6:53 PM CDT reply reply   0 recs

does this mean

Q won’t get any of his ownage stats for this one until they complete it?

by madvillian on Apr 28, 2008 6:58 PM CDT reply reply   0 recs

From some quick reading I may have answered my own question....

since the Sox had the last AB….the game would start over. That June 23rd date makes perfect sense…

really? 11 innings all for naught?

Tdogg, this game shows why AVG does matter.

How many runners did we leave in scoring position?

by SSH2005 on Apr 28, 2008 7:01 PM CDT reply reply   0 recs

Agreed

That number was way too high. Seems like Baltimore plays well against us. Look at the ratio of blown saves Jenks has against them

Comcast just said they will replay the game starting in the 12th

can’t believe this game didn’t end before my dinner plans. amazing. too hungry to put it off…. damn you la scarola!

Well what does it matter?

If you’re saying we need average, what are you really saying? A few more line drives and a lot more luck.

June 23rd

Mark it on your calendars.

Monday, June 23rd would be the best date to finish this seeing as the Sox are in town on that weekend, and the Orioles start a series at Wrigley on Tuesday, so they will in town as well.

Anyone hear what Hershiser had to say about what he used to do with video?

Really cool idea. He charted the movement of the batter’s eyes in their stride. If they moved vertically, then he figured they’d be vulnerable to high fastball-low curve and if they moved towards him, he could change speeds. To measure, he’d dot their eyes on the screen with a magic marker.

that Jenks could reach back and touch 95 MPH one of these days when we really need a save with a one run lead?

This is why you need to quit talking trash sometimes...

You take it too far and you are only talking shit because you are anonymously posting on the Internet. I wouldn’t be afraid to tell you where I live but I’m sure you would be… but then, you would probably shit your Depends.

If I rip on the White Sox for sucking (which they did today) or talk about how AVG is somewhat important...

why would you bring up my relationship with my wife? Why would you comment on something that you know nothing about? Get a real comeback other than making up lies or putting words in my mouth. I didn’t realize that commenting on a piss-poor game by the Sox or a discussion on batting average would send you over the edge…

wow. a .754 OPS.

that’s butt ugly. definitely need to be complaining about that offense. i mean, gosh, we wouldn’t want to have an above average offense, would we. and we wouldn’t want to do something like take a look at BABIP and realize that the batting average doesn’t really reflect how the sox are really hitting. nope, let’s focus on the most imperfect and least useful offensive rate stat we have. i’m also really happy the sox are at a nice fielding percentage of .986 – that defense must be doing great!

you know what?

i think we’ve all had quite enough of your introduction of meaningful numbers on this site. we should get back to what really matters…batting average, wins for starting pitchers (and their hurt feelings when the bullpen blows a lead) , and concern over how ozzie’s squeeze call is going to cause a mutiny in the clubhouse.

Blood has been shed, Jerry.

if i played major league baseball,

i’d bat .300, slug .500, get on base at a .400 clip. i’d be a great defensive player who ran into walls and got my jersey dirty and could throw a ball from center to home plate on the fly with unerring accuracy. i’d show emotion – but not too much emotion. i’d steal 30 bases a year. i’d routinely go first to third on singles. i’d improve my stats by 25% in clutch situations. i’d bunt for a hit or to sacrifice. i’d be able to hit the ball to all fields. i’d be muscular and have 4% body fat. my stats throughout spring training, regular season, postseason, winter ball, and beer league would be amazingly consistent.

but SSH would find something to rag on me for.

to be continued in baltimore?
The game has been suspended, but no date for its continuation has been set. The White Sox and Orioles do not play again until August 25 in Baltimore. The Orioles have no more trips to Chicago scheduled, so the game will likely be made up before the start of the August 25 game with the Orioles batting in the top of the 12th.

Aubrey Huff won’t be there. He was ejected from this game.

The last suspended game in the majors involved the Orioles. That was this game that started on June 28, 2007 and finished on July 27, 2007. Since that was an intradivisional game between the Yankees and Orioles, there was no need for a change of venue.

21 runners left on base. Disgusting.

by krushcuts on Apr 28, 2008 8:04 PM CDT reply reply   0 recs

Am I reading the rules correctly?

They can use any player that gets called up even if that player is replacing someone who was already used in the game? That would definitely be advantage O’s since they tore through most of their bullpen tonight and the rosters will be expanded by the time we play them in August.

Though I guess MacDougal will be back on the team by then. That evens things out.

Uhg

I wasted 7 hours of my life watching this game in miserable weather.

by Brush Back on Apr 28, 2008 8:12 PM CDT reply reply   0 recs

So many opportunities

Can’t believe that was called with the weather conditions (field was a disaster at that point), the infield playing in, and a player just starting to get some play time and not known for bunting.

There were plenty of other ops + Javy was still strong, why go to Jenks with his issues with the O’s at that point.

by Brush Back on Apr 28, 2008 8:18 PM CDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

didn't ozzie take the bat out of his hand and order him to bunt?

and with 1 out?

by The Wizard on Apr 28, 2008 8:18 PM CDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

How was the pitch anyways

I saw the attempt, couldn’t see the pitch – it seemed like he was trying to chase a high pitch to bunt, but from where I sit I couldn’t tell.

by Brush Back on Apr 28, 2008 8:21 PM CDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

wasn't it a suicide?

BA had to chase whatever then.

by larry on Apr 28, 2008 8:23 PM CDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Yes - he had no choice

I was just curious if he chased a bad pitch or missed a decent one. Regardless I found the call one of the top 10 dumbest I’d ever seen.

High and Inside

I saw the replay ESPN News – it was high and little inside but in a squeeze situation it was doable – he should put the bat to it.
I want to see BA make it, but this surely doesn’t help.
