The great Jensen Lewis...

strikes again.

Konerko is terrible when the weather's cold. Just awful.

Which is cold.

for baseball weather. Konerko's useless unless the temperature's above 70.

*sigh*

You know what? I'm thrilled that Joe drilled one. The part of my brain that is a numbers driven, win now, stat dork wants to see him gone ASAP. But Konerko, Crede, and Buehrle have that special place for me where once they're gone I'll miss that "these are the guys of '05" feeling.

I get that people want Fields to get his crack. I just want to see Joe Crede playing like Joe Crede. I suppose it falls into a sentimental category that is more or less gone from SSS. Everyone around here seems to spend their time rooting against players they want to see gone rather than rooting for the team. The site has a much more cold, angry feel than back in the day...and it isn't about winning and losing...it's just a general personality thing I guess. But to spend more time being upset with Crede and Uribe homers (oh no! now we have to put up with Juan longer!) than celebrating...I just don't get it.

I know it's pointless to say at this point. But I just feel like we're turning into "nothing is ever good enough" New York type fans.

by ChicagoPete on Apr 3, 2008 1:10 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I get that...

...i really do. I hate losses like the f'n plague. But when we can't even enjoy go-ahead homers?

i enjoyed it. i don't blame joe. i blame the team for not making better choices surrounding him.

I don't want to sound like I'm whining...

...I spent practically all day-every day here from the day the site opened until mid '06 when I just couldn't take the doom and gloom. That was more of a "my heart is breaking" thing over the fall off. But then it seemed to creep into the comments and such. Maybe I'm just being overly pissy today.

Yeah...

speaking of sentimental...I feel really bad for ol' Houston Alexander. Dude donated a kidney to his little girl, is a stand-up single father. Unfortunately he because the quickest knockout victim in UFC history last night. So that's a bit of a downer

If I thought this team could contend...

I'd be rooting for all these mediocre ballplayers. But since I don't think that, I want to see ballplayers who are part of the future, rather than seeing bits and pieces of the past.

If I want to relive 2005, I'll just throw in my World Series DVD.

check the comment thread from game one

we're a jovial bunch, SSH excluded. It's just hard with the constant bungling. Joe's only in my shithouse because he's been popping eeeeverything up. If he performs adequately, I have no reason to dislike him.

You make some excellent points

Except for the "everyone around here..." part. Many a fun season had some less than desirable players/managers/coaches and there's no reason why this can't be one too.

Next time, Bhoov, do some research.

I'd just like to see someone other than Jenks come in

and you get the feeling that you're getting out of a friggin' inning without a run scoring. I hope he fits the bill.

Wow....

The Bullpen looks good so far today. Dotel locking it down in the 7th.
Linkebrink sets it up perfectly for Bobby.
