The success paraSox.

Brent Brookhouse's comments on the gamethread earlier today reminded me just how much my (and many other Sox fans') expectations have risen since the World Series win. A winning reocrd alone is no longer considered successful; it's (at least) playoffs or a crappy, wasted season.

Then I thought of work, and how dangerous it can be to do your job at a very high level for any period of time, lest the boss think that's how you will perform from then on.

I guess my point is that we may have unreasonable expectations for the White Sox, but if we do, it's all their fault.

SouthSideSox is a community driven site. As such, users are able to express their thoughts and opinions in a FanPost, such as this one, which represents the views of this particular fan, but not necessarily the entire community or SouthSideSox editors.

I don't think it's that.

Many of us were willing to sit through rebuilding if the Sox decided to go in that direction. But we just want to have an idea of what the plan is and how it's going to happen. When it's tough to discern, we lose the faith. And then there are those who are complete and utter pessimists and have no use for reason.

dude, that was totally not swish you saw on rush street last night. swish was at home playing xbox.

that's at the moment. but did you really think in fall '05, after a 99 win season and world series win, with one of the top 10 payrolls in baseball,

that 30 months later the sox would be trying to improve on a 72 win season through rebuilding?

161 White Sox wins on the year, 161 wins; take one down and pass it around, 160 White Sox wins on the year.

no, but it's amazing what that shit-tacular '07 will do

to revamp your idea of what's going on.

Absolutely, 2007 completely wrenched up the works

We went from WS champs in 2005, to a powerhouse that inexplicably crumbled in the second half of 2006 but still finished with 90 wins, to one of the most disgusting White Sox teams I've ever witnessed in my LIFE in 2007. Starting with that Pods/Erstad nonsense and right on through the Angel Gonzalez era, last year was just absolutely horrible in so many ways. The worst part was that a lot of us held out sincere hopes that that would be a competitive ballclub. As a fan, I was stunned and angry about the turn of events and there's still that hangover from last year.

I think the worst part was that KWs confidence got really shaken. I think he really believed he had a solid ballclub out there in 2007, and the way it just fell apart on him must have been shocking. The moves he made this winter were not the actions of a confident man. There's been no gradual transition of turning over the roster to make the team younger, just alarming quick fixes to try and stop the leaking. 2007 robbed KW of the ability to calmly go about his business. I think he's cannibalized the future to try and salvage this season, and as tough as the competition is in the AL nowadays it looks like we're behind the 8 ball. It's not a comfortable spot to be in, as a fan I feel a little queasy about what's going on.

Crap

Didn't see this post, otherwise I wouldn't have posted regarding the NCAA tourney.

Anyways, after much deliberation (ha!), I think George and Walt's is the place to watch the games tomorrow. I doubt I'll make it out there cause I have too much to do. Perhaps we can meet up at Cato's in the near future?

Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.
