not necessarily

ozzie has historically shown his love for crede in the 5th spot on days like this. see the oakland game a few weeks back. or to move crede up over Q on days when a 3-5 guy is out but AJ is still playing. see the rays game last weekend. this is the second time ozzie has put Q at 5 instead of crede. two = trend.

It'd be an upgrade

The ball might bounce back to the pitcher allowing him to throw the ball to 2nd to prevent a stolen base. Not to mention it has much better facial hair.

Just curious.

For the record

I regret a lot of the stuff that went down last night.
It was indeed ridiculous.
But if you go back and read ALL the posts…and I mean ALL of the ones where I was posting –
You will see that I was defending myself or replying to being ganged up on.

And Larry’s uneccessary comment to me at the top of this thread is a classic example.
Why people like him start it or add to it rather than attempt to shut it down is unknown.
And then hide behind self justification or “I’ve been here longer so I have the right”....
WTF?
Larry just seems to be an angry person in general, and I’m embarrassed for him.

I simply do not care for ugly, sexual, lude comments on a sports blog.
And what started it all last night was me, asking nicely, to tone down the sexual comments.
And then everyone piled on….and then it all broke loose.

Now, if THAT’S the definition of this sports blog, then perhaps I do not in fact, belong here.

I like to talk about baseball.
Period.

no time for he said, she said.

you don’t like ugly, sexual, and lewd (i assume you meant lewd, and not ‘lude as in quaalude) comments. you have to put up with that here from people. a lot of us don’t like posters jabbering about baseball without any supportable analysis. and we have to put up with that from people here too. that’s just how the cookie crumbles, swishit.

Repeat after me: reading comprehension, even a little bit of thought before posting, and basic research are not signs of weakness.

posters jabbering about baseball without any supportable analysis.

When someone watches EVERY game, never missing ONE game the entire season….loves their team to no end….watches sportsnite, ESPN, basically any channel that will bring them news about their team….
have closets full of their team’s shirts and hats….go to as many games as they can….
And pay attention to stats, but do NOT live and die by by them, largely because they do not have the statistical prowess that others attempt to have because they direct what’s left of their lives to their wife and family, and also because stats have been proven to be important but NOT the end-all….

it does NOT make people like you any smarter or better than people who do NOT.
Newsflash: It’s called diversity.

And you’re an arrogant fool if you think that you ARE better or smarter just because you happen to swing a stats sword better than others do or can.

by swishit on Apr 30, 2008 1:07 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

chalk up the ugly, sexual, and lewd comments to diversity, too, then, and move on.

as an FYI for the newbie

“mancrush” is the longest running joke/leit motif/whatever on this blog. it’s been around at least since the 05 season. coming on here as a new reader/poster and telling people to stop referencing it is extremely poor form and you’re going to get the reaction you got for it last night.

4/29/08: the ginger ninja strikes again

by larry on Apr 30, 2008 1:29 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

If you actually read and THOUGHT before you posted

you would see that I didn’t TELL anyone to do anything.
As stated earlier, (and you can go read the post)...
I asked…..NICELY.

And since I AM new as you put it and not familiar, all someone had to do when I ASKED was tell me that is what people do here.

I apologoze for even considering that there might be ANY morals whatsoever here…
Consider me schooled.

by swishit on Apr 30, 2008 1:34 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

maybe you could have ASKED if that was what people do here

or THOUGHT about why it was that it was referenced on nearly every thread, every day and then NICELY realized for yourself that’s what people do here.

and, even though you didn’t ask, another thing people do here is not WRITE in capital letters in THEIR posts except when they’re MOCKING other posters.

I'm just watching Gameday...

but it seems that the Twins’ hitters are letting Masset off the hook by swinging at garbage.

Yes.

They still have Jeff Salazar on their bench.

they gave him that contract last summer.

My opinion

Q will cool off but have decent number and be healthier than Thome
Thome will improve but probably miss a bunch of games.
I would pick Q if I didn’t have much depth on the bench

I’d think if Jim Thome is your worst fantasy player you don’t have much to worry about to begin with.

was part of the return for Matt Garza. He was once a top prospect, but his star has fallen quite a bit as he’s moved around from organization to organization.

Still a decent hitter, has a bad defensive reputation.

are they

putting crappy turf in their new stadium, or is it going to be grass? That may change the entire way the Twins play baseball. Their speedy contact hitters wouldnt play so well in a regular stadium.

by Rockraines on Apr 30, 2008 1:25 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

their speed game/slap hitting will require a very firm surface. Grass will slow down the running game quite a bit.

by Rockraines on Apr 30, 2008 1:26 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

If they keep the grass long...

and slope the field towards the mound, that helps with bunting.

by The Jerry Royster Experience on Apr 30, 2008 1:27 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Wrigley?

JK, but the turf between bases is why they have such a great speed game now, as well as the concrete turf which helps with bouncers, and rollers
