I am going to try it soon because of your recommendation actually.

My wife works at Good Samaritan so on her way home down Main I will have her pick it up one night.

Nice

I grew up in Orchard Brook at the bottom of the hill, grew up on Mrs T’s and gryos king at that intersection, so so good. I work over in lisle and make it over to there and a place called Bertos in downtown downers for italian subs, good as well.

by Rockraines on Apr 30, 2008 1:41 PM CDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Gyro King is pretty good

Just south of 63rd on Cass is a great find called Margies. Awesome burgers and fries there.

Nick Punto...

has a 2.000 OPS. This is unacceptable.

I have a good feeling about Thornton this year.

He looks like he has a much better feeling for the strike zone than last year

not unusual

for foreign players (one of the reasons for the decline in minor league affiliates in canada). especially when they only got their US permits recently, like alexei did.

Who do you think will replace him?

I would favor a reliever over Owens. The bullpen has been getting a lot of work

Stats Question

I would think that it would be improbable for the Sox to continue to leave so many guys on base for the whole year. You’d think they start accidentally knocking some in.

Is there any statistical info that supports this trend continuing or ending?

by joewho112 on Apr 30, 2008 1:47 PM CDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

I wonder

If Q would be a decent #2 hitter. Since we arent giving up outs obviously to move the runner over, I like his patience and his ability to adjust to pitches and hit it up the middle.

by Rockraines on Apr 30, 2008 1:45 PM CDT reply reply   0 recs

I would rather have him in the 3 hole in the future

I think the #2 hitter is your bat control specialist. I dont want him taking away from his power.

by southsideirish71 on Apr 30, 2008 1:48 PM CDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

you know

Who would make a great 2 hitter swish…and to lead off we have someone with like Jim Thome but with jerry Owens speed…think of him as a good ball player…oh and swishers ability to generate a walk and Qs ability to get hbp…yea….it would be awesome

btw I have no idea what im sayin anymore

Ground ball to first, and the White Sox have won the Pennant!

Like?

Rickey Henderson?

by Rockraines on Apr 30, 2008 1:50 PM CDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Can't we just

have Thome sit on Owens’ shoulders? Then we get the best of both worlds. Is that allowed?

by joewho112 on Apr 30, 2008 1:50 PM CDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

You know who was a great #2 hitter? Joe Foy.

Could take a pitch, hit the other way, move a guy over, all the things that don’t show up in the stat sheets. A real baseball player.

I took the "under".

by winningugly on Apr 30, 2008 1:55 PM CDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Q is the perfect #2 hitter

In an ideal new-age lineup that doesn’t do dumb shit like bunt and hit and run with the top of the order.

Under Ozzie though you’ve probably be taking the bat out of his hands way too much to want him there. He’s the ideal 5th hitter in this lineup.
Swisher
OC
Thome
Kong
Quentin
Dye
AJ
Crede
Uribe

see I have Crede at 8 and 9 for clutch reasons

Well if we take the 1950s bunt and steal crap out

Then sure, 2 hole hitter would be great. My worry is that Ozzie would have him wasting ABs with stupid stuff based on the bantam weight cruiser running in front of him.

by southsideirish71 on Apr 30, 2008 1:53 PM CDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

dammit

K but he still gets on base.

thorton

used to be a starter. he looks tough today.

by Rockraines on Apr 30, 2008 1:54 PM CDT reply reply   0 recs

Thorton

looked great these last 2 innings…maybe he is channeling cliff politte circa 2005…remember when he was good…what the hell happened in 2006 when everytime he entered the game I would yell at him “boo, go back to triple A”

I think I might like to invite

Q, BA and Swish out for drinks and just see where it goes from there.

Reminds me of the old SNL skit where Burt Reynolds was taking out a teenage girl for a schtupp with parental permission/urging.
