have you been there yet? So good. Do you work nearby?
I am going to try it soon because of your recommendation actually.

Nice
I grew up in Orchard Brook at the bottom of the hill, grew up on Mrs T’s and gryos king at that intersection, so so good. I work over in lisle and make it over to there and a place called Bertos in downtown downers for italian subs, good as well.
Gyro King is pretty good
Just south of 63rd on Cass is a great find called Margies. Awesome burgers and fries there.

Also on 63rd just south of main, place called Teddy’s good pepper and egg

not unusual

Who do you think will replace him?
I would favor a reliever over Owens. The bullpen has been getting a lot of work
Watch out!
Dye’s falling numbers may drop on your head.
Left 8 on base through 5
"Jenks, who was never afraid to say "no" to a hamburger..."
Stats Question
I would think that it would be improbable for the Sox to continue to leave so many guys on base for the whole year. You’d think they start accidentally knocking some in.
Is there any statistical info that supports this trend continuing or ending?
I wonder
If Q would be a decent #2 hitter. Since we arent giving up outs obviously to move the runner over, I like his patience and his ability to adjust to pitches and hit it up the middle.
I would rather have him in the 3 hole in the future
I think the #2 hitter is your bat control specialist. I dont want him taking away from his power.
by southsideirish71 on Apr 30, 2008 1:48 PM CDT up reply actions
you know
Who would make a great 2 hitter swish…and to lead off we have someone with like Jim Thome but with jerry Owens speed…think of him as a good ball player…oh and swishers ability to generate a walk and Qs ability to get hbp…yea….it would be awesome
btw I have no idea what im sayin anymore
Ground ball to first, and the White Sox have won the Pennant!
by beanohatesthecubs on Apr 30, 2008 1:48 PM CDT up reply actions
Can't we just
have Thome sit on Owens’ shoulders? Then we get the best of both worlds. Is that allowed?
You know who was a great #2 hitter? Joe Foy.
Could take a pitch, hit the other way, move a guy over, all the things that don’t show up in the stat sheets. A real baseball player.
I took the "under".
nobody, i mean nobody, could hit the bad ball in a night game after a rain delay like joe foy. nobobdy.

I was rooting for Messi
Q is the perfect #2 hitter
In an ideal new-age lineup that doesn’t do dumb shit like bunt and hit and run with the top of the order.
Under Ozzie though you’ve probably be taking the bat out of his hands way too much to want him there. He’s the ideal 5th hitter in this lineup.
Swisher
OC
Thome
Kong
Quentin
Dye
AJ
Crede
Uribe

Well if we take the 1950s bunt and steal crap out
Then sure, 2 hole hitter would be great. My worry is that Ozzie would have him wasting ABs with stupid stuff based on the bantam weight cruiser running in front of him.

Why I don't like Walker
The Twins radio guys pointed out Dye’s slump and said that the Sox remedy was to have Dye wear his pants above the knee. Are we sure Walker isn’t actually Tim Gunn?
Yeah, for all we know the pants legs will squeeze blood out of his legs

At the start of the season
I looked at the schedule and thought the Sox would be doing very well to come out of the month of April at .500. They’re coming out of the month 2 games over .500 and in first place. Does the team have problems? Of course. But I can’t be anything but happy with this first month of baseball. Months ago I said this team would be competetive in 2008, and for now, they are. Enjoy it a little, fellas.
What are you going to say in May
When we are 10 games under .500?

I would say
that the Sox played some pretty crappy baseball. May, however, is tough. 9 homes games, and 20 road games. Considering the teams the Sox will be playing in May, I would be happy with a 14-15 record for the month, leaving the team one game over .500 and in pretty good shape for the rest of the season.
So we will be in good shape
If we are .500 June 1st?
I think I would have to disagree. I think the sox are about a .500 team, so yeah – I wouldn’t be too upset. But, I wouldn’t say they would be in good shape. The Indians or Tigers will take over in May.

You might be right.
The Tigers have 4 more home game than the Sox in May, and the Tribe has 8 more home games (and what I would consider the easiest MAY schedule of the three teams). I could see the Tribe pulling a couple games ahead of the Sox (if the Sox go 14-15 for the month). But that would still leave the Sox in what I would consider good shape for the rest of the season. It sure is a long, long season…..
Who thought of that schedule?
Is the circus coming to US Cellular?
Pitching and defense.
in the first
when thome tried for a triple
and was OBVIOUSLY thrown out
in the first
I said to myself
well thats it.
O-fer Cabrera kind of sucks, doesnt he?

what is the sox record in 1 and 2 run ballgames?
it seems like they keep losing the close ones of late
they have had ample opportunity to close the door on the last orioles game and the two twins game but cannot capitalize.
instead of being 5-1 in those two series, sox are 2-3 with a chance to go 2-4.
that continued trend will be the difference in making the playoffs.
Yep, this is the knife edge
they played in 2005 – similar performance, very different results (so far). They always go the key hit, key pitch/out whenever they needed it. Not this year.
I blame Juan Uribe.
I took the "under".
i heard he ate three turducken's for breakfast. he is so fat.

in april 2005
sox went 10-3 in 1-run games and 2-1 in 2-run games. 25-16 in 1-run games the rest of the way. looks like the early 1-run winning percentage was as unsustainable as this season’s april babip. well, not really, since the OFFENSE SUCKS AND IS PUTRID AND TERRIBLE AND CAN’T GET ANY HITS.

One way to look at today's game...
is that the offense couldn’t get it done, and they blew several scoring opportunities.
Another way is that the Twins really let Nick Masset off the hook, and this should have been a blowout loss, rather than a close loss.
I don’t know if either of these is optimistic.

Who you callin' reactionary?
Act like you’re all high and mighty because you use STATISTICS. Well I’ve got news for YOU, even if the team is scoring RUNS, it doesn’t mean the OFFENSE is doing WELL. Scoring runs isn’t the whole POINT of the offense. You need to hit singles and get clubhouse morale up as well. You need to start watching the games with your own EYES and wearing a THOMAS jersey bought during the 2000 season, or since I don’t trust YOURS because you don’t know anything, you need to WATCH the games with my eyes, then maybe you’ll actually learn about baseball.
Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.
i wish i had a THOMAS jersey
and i think RUNS is in fact the whole POINT of the offense.
O-fer Cabrera kind of sucks, doesnt he?
when the hell is someone going to man up and make a sarcasm font?
Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.
I'll settle for...
a recap thread.
It sucks that site performance gets so bad once the post count gets to a certain level.

You hear that William B.?
Let’s go Wiz, if Cheat’s going to make you guest host for the week you need to step up.

sorry, I was away at the time...
The greatest trick the White Sox ever pulled was convincing their fan base that "Ozzieball" ever existed.
Hey, no problem
You’re lucky Chiburb’s out of town, or else you’d have to answer to him – and I don’t think you need that in your life right now.

haha!

not a bad idea
maybe we could just finish the post with a signature, such as:

Jews like to blow?
if so, I may have to change my dating strategy

Maybe the guys, and definitely the women
until marriage. Then it stops faster than a White Sox rally when JO comes to the plate!
