Pablo is batting 8th in an NL lineup today
he's gotta swing the bat with 2 outs an men on.

that is not correct.

yeah we do. Swish is perfect for that.

refresh my memory?
was it last year or '06 that Willis threw batting practice to the Sox? Looked almost like he was just going thru the motions instead of pitching.
Skanberg, if I wanted to hear your opinion, I would have brainwashed you by now-
Don Guillote
It was last year during interleague
He was "trying to take something off" of his pitches so he would have more control. He was still wild, and was eminently hittable.

Seeing this lineup
reminds me why I don't think Ozuna belongs on this roster. You have to have a backup catcher, so although Hall sucks there isn't an easy solution there.
Ozuna, on the other hand, might be hurting us in more way than one. He is a minus hitter/defender, which in itself is detrimental, and if Alexei is gonna stay on the roster, than this should be a start for him at 2nd. Alexei needs at-bats. He looks like he might be overmatched right now, but I think he is still giving you equal production to Ozuna.
Besides, does anyone want to see the 8-9 of this order as Ozuna-Hall. Come on, that blows.
That intro by Swisher was hilarious
and I love the fact that he can get a walk after being down 0-2

One thing is certain: he will ALWAYS remember that greed cost him a ring (when he retires without one).
Maggs played 82 games that year and slugged .436
we wouldn't have won a WS if he stayed, not to mention the money saved that allowed us to sign all the players we signed the offseason prior also not to mention the fact that he did what everyone in his position would do. There's no reason what so ever to hate on Maggs. He was a very good player who played hard for us.

Sure, and Renteria may have been safe had he hustled...
but that's not the point. The point is that it shows that we now have a LF'er who has a great arm. No garbage Podsednik or Owens arms.
we've had good at bats
dude, that was totally not swish you saw on rush street last night. swish was at home playing xbox.
Really Gavin?
Where the hell is that slider? My projection was contingent upon the single pitch he had that actually moves away from right handed batters. He looks like last year with somehwat simpler mechanics, but he's still only throwing his fastball for a strike. Ugh ugh ugh ugh.
dude, that was totally not swish you saw on rush street last night. swish was at home playing xbox.
Should have signed Bartolo Colon...
he's touching 95 - 96 MPH in some minor league starts with the Red Sox AAA team.
I believe he's not toast when I see it.
dude, that was totally not swish you saw on rush street last night. swish was at home playing xbox.
No idea but here's the link...
Bartolo Colon faced just one batter over the minimum in five scoreless innings Thursday for Triple-A Pawtucket.
Colon hit 95 and 96 mph on the guy in the game against Indianapolis. Clay Buchholz's margin for error is getting smaller by the day. If Colon remains successful, the Red Sox will have to give him a look at the back of their rotation.
i never believe mph
in an article, especially about minor league games. heck, i never believe it on tv.

with his bat, he makes up for it, if he even is below average. better than the other options.
"Aw, how could he lose the ball in the sun, he's from Mexico."
He's been breaking back on everything
in these first few games.
It was good play, right over his head. The bigger test will be to see if he adjusts to get good breaks like that on balls hit in front of him as well.
AIM: SouthSideCheat
right over the head...
is IMO the hardest to catch. Open up your hips the wrong way and you're screwed. It's easy to look good in big outfields sometimes, but I thought that was a pretty tough play that he made look pretty routine.
that's somethng the fielding metrics don't do right?
Account for the value of the balls caught or not caught? Probably wouldn't be that hard to incorporate either. Based on balls with the same approximate velo, angle and park, what were the results of those batted balls.

Nah
They won't have the worst offense in the league, I'd be shocked if they finished anything less middle of the road in RS.
I'm talking about perhaps being the most underachieving team in baseball
Not that they won't be good, but not nearly as good as they should be. And I'm going to chalk it up more to injuries and the bullpen than anything else. I agree, they won't come anywhere near struggling as much as we did last year.
depth and replacement level PA/IP are going to get to them on such an old team
