par for the course

one an hour is what we've been averaging so far.

"Aw, how could he lose the ball in the sun, he's from Mexico."

I would have thought board activity would have slowed down by now

Good to see some of us excited still, despite all the off-season moaning and groaning.

once the sox lose three in a row

it will.

You're probably right

But it is mostly regulars posting no?

Pretty much no one who didn't at least make a debut last season

dude, that was totally not swish you saw on rush street last night. swish was at home playing xbox.

by colintj on Apr 6, 2008 9:15 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

with the momentum they got going now

i don't see them losing again this year. in fact, i guarantee it.

by MarketMaker on Apr 6, 2008 9:12 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Dare we say....

Uribe makes that play.

by Sox Machine on Apr 6, 2008 9:07 PM CDT   0 recs

I said it in the other thread

but Uribe never had to resort to that spin and mid-air throw, he'd just plant and gun it. OCab doesn't have the arm to do that, he has to rely on a quick release. I'd prefer the cannon at SS.

by ChicagoPete on Apr 6, 2008 9:12 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Wow - the calls for Uribe's head last year

seem so far away.

Front-running is fun, ain't it?

I took the "under".

by winningugly on Apr 6, 2008 9:13 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I never complained about his defense, it was his offense that gagged

If he's going to be on the field anyways, the better defender should be at SS. But it's too late now, the time to do that was in the spring.

by ChicagoPete on Apr 6, 2008 9:15 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Not necessarily calling you out

but the board was rife for his head last year, and it wasn't just his offense. Many comments about his range and accuracy.

Perhaps 2B is his slot.

I took the "under".

by winningugly on Apr 6, 2008 9:17 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I'd much rather he be gone completely

And we find a solid 2B, but if we have him on the field, put him where he is most effective, SS.

by Grinder in Training on Apr 6, 2008 9:17 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

yup

people seem to be thinking about uribe like they think about detroit pitching.

"Aw, how could he lose the ball in the sun, he's from Mexico."

by larry on Apr 6, 2008 9:18 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

He certainly lost a step last year

But he looks like he's regained some quickness. Dropping 10lbs will do that. Uribe is still young, especially compared to OCab.

by ChicagoPete on Apr 6, 2008 9:19 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

his problem was never his quickness

"Aw, how could he lose the ball in the sun, he's from Mexico."

by larry on Apr 6, 2008 9:22 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I dunno about that

He certainly seems to have gotten his range back this year.

by winningugly on Apr 6, 2008 9:09 PM CDT   0 recs

Uribe

Wonder if he'll get hurt at some point at second base? He seems to have trouble turning around with all that much quickness. I think his arm will make up for anything he might lose compared to other 2B's, but what if a guy comes in strong?

by Grinder in Training on Apr 6, 2008 9:09 PM CDT   0 recs

He's not smooth at all on the pivot yet

He's played 2B when he was younger, hopefully he just needs more reps out there.

by ChicagoPete on Apr 6, 2008 9:13 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Nice teefus

by vince_ on Apr 6, 2008 9:15 PM CDT   0 recs

the numbers don't lie

by MarketMaker on Apr 6, 2008 9:15 PM CDT   0 recs

SHHHH!

You want to kill the trade value he's worked up?!?

by CatBrains on Apr 6, 2008 9:16 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

So has any reason been given for the blond facial hair?

Upstate NY papers don't care about the Sox for some reason.

by twoeightnine on Apr 6, 2008 9:18 PM CDT   0 recs

story has to to do with a rabbit, some maker's mark, two hookers, and a wiffle bat

i can see why the papers haven't covered it.

"Aw, how could he lose the ball in the sun, he's from Mexico."

by larry on Apr 6, 2008 9:20 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

haven't we all?

and we've all had a guy like toby tag along.

"Aw, how could he lose the ball in the sun, he's from Mexico."

by larry on Apr 6, 2008 9:21 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Oh cmon

I thought he looked ok out there

by Option27 on Apr 6, 2008 9:21 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

He might stick around as a defensive substitute

The way this offense is clicking there is absolutely no need for Owens anywhere on this roster.
