That was impressive.
His diving stop of that base hit to right-center was even more impressive. I thought that was at least a double for sure.

Of note
I noticed there was a new search on the site last night, which now appears to have been disabled. I’m unsure about the delay, or how long we’ll be without search, but from what I saw last night, it will be worth the wait.

To the left is Rowand’s catch Aug. 7, 2005; to the right is Anderson’s Friday. Why do I single out that particular Rowand wall catch out of the many he made over his White Sox career? Because like Anderson’s grab, not only was Rowand’s catch against the Mariners, but it was also off the bat of Richie Sexson. Neato, huh?
One difference between the catches is the aftermath. Rowand fell to the warning track and laid there for a while; Anderson spun and fired to first. Does that make Anderson tougher?

Sox lineup shuffle likely to continue
Players are bouncing between the lineup and the bench as the White Sox search for the winning combination.Nick Swisher sat out Friday’s game, with Brian Anderson (.270) playing center field. Swisher is hitting just .200.
Chicago manager Ozzie Guillen said he might give Jim Thome, hitting .218, the day off Saturday against the Mariners. He would put Swisher back in and keep Anderson in the lineup.
“I need Brian to play a couple more games,’’ Guillen said. “They have a lefty [Jarrod Washburn] going. I can get Swisher back in the lineup or give Thome a day off. I’m pretty sure [Anderson will] be in the lineup.’‘
Guillen also is pondering adjusting lineup slots, putting A.J. Pierzynski, hitting .297, between Thome and Paul Konerko, hitting .225.
“We’re thinking about it,’’ Guillen said. “We may move A.J. up a little bit, for a couple games, to get those guys back on track.
“We did that with [Jermaine] Dye. When Dye was struggling, we moved him back one slot and it was good results. We’ll see what happens the next couple of games.’’

coop on floyd
Observed White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper, who said he made no major changes and simply told Floyd to trust his stuff: “Sometimes things don’t go right where they’re at. Sometimes people just need a change of scenery.”

more coop
“There have been some mechanical changes we made that has given him a chance to throw his fastball to both sides of the plate,” Cooper said. “(Bullpen coach) Juan Nieves did a hell of a job getting him started with some changes last year in (Triple-A) Charlotte. Gavin took it home with him for the offseason, and he hasn’t looked back.“Now that he sees himself doing this kind of stuff, his confidence has grown. It’s not unlike what we did with Jose.”
Contreras came from the Yankees with a problem: He was tipping his pitches. He had little confidence left and “too much in his mind,” Cooper said.

I like that Idea
Against Lefties bench Thome somedays and play BA in CF and let Swisher DH.
Swisher is a good hitter, he’s in a slump, but Thome is proven crap against lefties at this point in his career. And BA is everything and more in CF, the guy is amazing out there. Shades of first half 2006, except now he seems to have some semblence of offense as well.

Probably better...
to play Swisher at first and let Konerko DH on those days.
Even better, play Swisher in right and let Dye DH.

Btw, my daughter was the Comcast
“fan of the game” last night. Apparently, her enthusiasm for BA’s catch and other Sox goodies caught somebody’s eye.
Tonight she’ll be behind 3rd, close to the field.
Once again, Sox pinstripe no name.

MM, you're right of course.
But it was WU posting so we consider the source and respond in kind.
Lord knows I’ve posted enough about his wife/milf.

no sexson tonight/tomorrow
Sexson’s suspension reduced to five gamesMajor League Baseball has reduced the suspension of Seattle Mariners first baseman Richie Sexson to five games after an appeal process was completed, according to Mariners general manager Bill Bavasi.
Sexson’s original suspension was six games. He was suspended Friday after he was ejected from Thursday’s game against the Texas Rangers after charging the mound.
Sexson will begin serving the suspension tonight in Seattle’s game against the Chicago White Sox. He will miss the final two games of the series against the White Sox, and all three games in Texas (May 12-14).

miguel cairo replaces sexson
In days gone by - OK, until a couple of years ago - players who were handed suspensions had to wait weeks before Major League Baseball heard their appeals. Now, when a player is suspended, MLB conducts a hearing within days via conference call.In the case of Mariners first baseman Richie Sexson, that’s a good thing and a bad thing.
Two days after Sexson charged the mound Thursday and was handed a six-game suspension, his case was heard this afternoon. The suspension was trimmed to five games and Sexson began serving it immediately.
MLB’s quick handling of the matter is good in the sense that Sexson and the Mariners don’t want it hanging any longer than possible. However, it could be a bummer tonight because he has a career .400 average against White Sox starter Javier Vazquez.
...
With Sexson out, manager John McLaren said he would mix and match at first base. Tonight, he has Miguel Cairo playing first. This is one of McLaren’s more interesting lineups because he also has benched shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt for at least a game in an effort to temper his wild-swinging tendency. Willie Bloomquist is starting at short. Here’s the lineup:
Ichiro Suzuki, center field
Willie Bloomquist, shortstop
Adrian Beltre, third base
Raul Ibanez, left field
Jose Lopez, second base
Jeff Clement, DH
Kenji Johjima, catcher
Wladimir Balentien, right field
Miguel Cairo, first baseMcLaren also has dropped Lopez down in an effort to get more production out of the middle of the order.

Sox killer Willie Bloomquist
Bloomquist career vs. White Sox (75 plate appearances) -
.324/.351/.423. He’s scored more runs in his career against the White Sox (16) than he has against the Angels.
