Rosenbloom: Simple statements for simple minds

Gavin Floyd was bad Sunday, the White Sox hitters were worse, so let's talk about the next series against the Los Angels of Anaheim of California of the Pacific Time Zone of the United States of the Northern Hemisphere of Earth. Let's talk about not getting Torii Hunter and ending up with Nick Swisher. Hunter is hitting .302, slugging .511, and hasn't made an error. Swisher is hitting .202, slugging .310 and already has made three errors. OK, let's not.

Then let's talk Orlando Cabrera-for-Jon Garland. Cabrera is hitting .231. Garland's four wins are as many as any Sox pitcher. OK, let's not. Again.

Not to defend Rosenbloom, but is he wrong?

The analysis is crap. Actually, there is no analysis. But pointing out OCab and Swish sucking is a valid observation

Hunter is a better player than Swisher. And I don’t see how anyone cannot be concerned about Swisher’s loss of power. I’m still glad the Sox didn’t break the bank for Hunter, but they may have traded 2 good pitchers for a corner OF with low-power, low BA, and decent OBP.

The Garland stuff…well wins are his only good stat outside his groundball rate and innings pitched. Trading him was not a bad move by any means. But Cabrera’s season, small sample size and all, has been terrible both offensively and defensively. Uribe has the same OPS and probably plays a better SS.

You can't open with

Gavin Floyd had one terrible outing, so he is bad, let’s not talk about it… And close with a comment about how good Jon Garland is…. Floyd has outpitched him by every statistical measure but wins… but, you know, let’s not talk about that.
