Williams and other Sox staffers would not elaborate on details of the investigation because it is ongoing. Williams wouldn’t say if financial improprieties were involved, but a source with knowledge of the probe said there were questions regarding the manner in which signing bonuses were distributed to Latin American prospects. Investigators were seeking to determine if Wilder and dismissed scouts Victor Mateo and Domingo Toribio were skimming from those bonus payments.http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/whitesox/cs-080517-white-sox-fire-wilder-scouting-director,1,7373042.storyAn MLB investigator confirmed to the Tribune on Saturday that the probe involved skimming and that it currently is limited to the White Sox.
“There are probably others who have done it and there may be others who do it, but we don’t view it as widespread or organized in any way,” he said.
The greatest trick the White Sox ever pulled was convincing their fan base that "Ozzieball" ever existed.
not that this is a good thing
but at least it’s not something that goes higher up.

Well, that was a little better than "nice"
That ball was almost past him. That was as good as a catch as he can make.
I took the "under".
We could use something different in our bats this inning

Yes.
Do you suggest cork or bouncy balls?

That was 2006
at the GAB in Cincy. I was at the game (the whole series)—a sweep of the Reds. Garland’s was hit pretty freaking far. IIRC, it was a shot to left-center.
1st major league hit?
did I hear farmer correctly?

My comment was looking ahead to the rest of the year.....
if we tearing the cover off the ball we’d be pretty jacked right now because of the pitching.
If we win we're in first
As I recall, we had a lot of close games in ‘05. A W is a W. String a few together and you got something.

2 runs given up by Sox pitching
in last 24 innings
16 of last 24 innings played against San Fransisco Giants
We should be up by 5
Although I must say I was surprised/impressed by Dotel there. Hope his inevitable injury doesn’t happen just as he’s getting good.

By the way...
I know we only saw what, four pitches there, but that’s the best fastball I’ve seen Oh Do Tell! (gosh do I hate when DJ does that—//shakes fist angrily). On the WGN gun it had him at 93 twice and 95 on the pitch that struck out Wynn, and my intuitive ‘gun’ says that was a legit 95.
Why did JD not do that with runners on earlier?
(Last AB, too.) Doesn’t like lefty soft-tossers?

Also, since it's in the same general vicitnity as what we're talking about
the White Sox hit the most fly balls in the AL. So there really is something to the cold weather issue, fwiw. The pitching is giving up the fewest HR/FLY in the AL, which probably means that it’s just been tough to hit the ball out of the Cell in the early months.

really? that doesn't sound right

As of the same date last year, the Sox were 20-17
but had a -13 run differential. This year we’re 22-20 and are +25. So instead of being lucky to be over .500, we’re unlucky to have just 22 wins.

What a difference a year makes.
Dotel walking off the mound tonight doesn’t look anything like a major league baseball player. Give him a super fly hat and those babes dancing on that Lotto commercial and, ......like wow.
