i wonder what stage of grief owens is in now...

obviously owens hasn't performed well at charlotte this season.

but he didn’t exactly knock the cover off the ball there before his call-up last year either. major league players get called up as soon as practicable regardless of how they’re playing on the farm (or on a rehab stint). if nothing else, this move signifies to jerry that he isn’t (and never should have been) a starter-in-waiting for this team.

My guess is

Kenny wants to see if Wise can fill the backup of role so he can make a trade involving B. Anderson.

Of course, I'm waiting for a press release...

But DeWayne Wise is sort of a surprising choice.

He has been pretty great for the Knights this year – .338/.420/.609, but he’s thirty years old and has had plenty of opportunities at the major-league level.

He’s pretty much the definition of an AAAA player.

Of course, he’s not going to be a starter, so it’s really not important. Consider him as this year’s Terrero.

If this is true, I guess the Jerry Owens experiment is, well, maybe not quite over, but really moribund.

This is fine (Wise)

bring up the AAAA player with power while resting/spelling Konerko while his hand heals. The popular move, and maybe the right one, would be to play Swisher at first and BA in CF. As a BA fan, I still like this move.
If he sits on the bench I don’t understand it.
