2.5 games up
Feels a lot less comfortable than 3.5. Let’s get back up there.
I must say I wouldn’t have minded trying to catch lightning in a bottle with Wise, instead of Brian “Slider in the dirt” Anderson. Weaver is not a good match for Brian. Scioscia really stacked it with powerful(but free swinging) righty bats.
doesn't look good

The greatest trick the White Sox ever pulled was convincing their fan base that "Ozzieball" ever existed.
Sox will chase Weaver from the game
before he completes 6 innings today. Just one of those feelings (that I will regret posting, no doubt). I know why others baffle the Sox, but Weaver really shouldn’t.
Paulie getting a well unearned day off.
It’s kind of nice to get a Saturday afternoon game for once. It seems like that hasn’t happened for us much this year.

They can't anyone of the Weaver bloodline, that's why.
We shale forever be cursed from failing to sign Jeff Weaver out of the second round in 1998!
Rosenthal mentions Joey Cora...
as being a candidate for Mets manager if Willie is fired. Heh. I didn’t know he was a ‘rising star’.

If the Mets fire Willie during the season...
Jerry Manual would probably take over on an interim basis. I’d like to see him get another shot at managing.

don't let the sunshine fool you.
its 54 there, 70 at OHare.
When she farts, a little rainbow comes out...
What?
I…don’t really believe it’s only 54 there. It’s much warmer where I am and the stadium isn’t much closer to the lake than me.

just looked at weatherbug
and that’s what it is downtown at lasalle and Adams.
When she farts, a little rainbow comes out...
The wind is probably higher down there.
If I had to guess, I’d say it’s low to mid sixties at the ballpark.

Fox
showing us the White Sox flailing at Weaver in the crispest and most beautiful view free TV can offer.
Danks is getting squeezed

Wow, I expecting a few more comments...
after that long half-inning. Everyone’s out enjoying the nice day, I guess.

your expectations should meet his abilities
unless you think he’s being fascist by only grounding out to 3rd
dude, that was totally not swish you saw on rush street last night. swish was at home playing xbox.
Day game,
I am unable to watch due to MLB Game of The Week and it is frustrating. Looks like I have not missed much however. I t befuddles me how any major league batter can be consistently lost against slower pitching unless the hitters consistently over swing.
Adjust your stance, choke up and use all fields-that’s what we tell our players.
finally an advantage to being in the LA viewing area
sorry for ya, buddy.

For those counting at home...
That’s no runs in a 5 out inning, with only one runner reaching base

That's why I don't understand...
people saying Vlad was so stupid for swinging at the first pitch with the bases loaded last night.

It didn't benefit him to swing in that instance
He’s a career .368/.373/.676 on first pitch vs. .323/.389/.575 overall…
Where as ML hitters were .344/.349/.551 on first pitch last year vs. .268/.336/.423
Vlady just hits… He doesn’t really gain any advantage by swinging first pitch in that situation

I was going to recall a Juan Uribe situation...
where the reaction was the exact opposite. But I can’t be bothered.

Farmer said "terrible throw."
Stone said, “A very bad throw.”
Can’t wait to see it.
Never trust a big butt and a smile.
Sox Machine
Just watch the tape from the last Weaver game
it was the same as about 3 throws in that one…

but he stops so many runners with his arm
and then gives it back with plays like that. he gets a little overexuberant out there sometimes. or just doesn’t think. something like that.
I'm not so excited about the walk and single he allowed
but he got out of the inning with moderate damage.
He’s pitched a lot better this year than I was expecting. Good for him!
Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.
Where in the world was Cabrera playing on that single?
I thought he had gotten a double play until the camera changed and dinked right through.

He also made
the Ritchie deal, the clayton deal, the Navarro signing, the Koch deal - just to use recent examples - look good by only being our most productive hitter in ‘07…
AIM: SouthSideCheat
he also made the pitching staff lose their philosophy of giving up only 645 runs
that fucking thome. personally responsible for the change in attitude that caused the pitchers to give up 150 more runs in 2006.
Carl Everett was much better at not hitting the homerun.
Should’ve kept him around.

little known fact
carl called the game for sox pitchers from the bench. or the outfield. you think it’s a coincidence that cotts only pitched well when carl was on his team?
It all went downhill...
when Podsednik decided to start hitting homers in the World Series.

i especially liked
the whole “you know you’ve hurt a club when you go from champs to missing the playoffs in one year.”
I could’nt agree more.
any chance we can get Wise to play 2B? Im sick of Ozuna
Why in the hell did we bring up an OF to replace our backup 2B/SS. We already have 5 OF. Call up Getz, call up ANYONE who can play the middle infield.
For the infield
We have.,.
Ozuna – 3B, SS, 2B
Ramirez – 2B, SS
OCab – SS
For the OF we have Q!, Anderson, Swisher, Dye, Ramirez. I would rather add a 3rd 2B than a 6th OF. Maybe it’s just me, but I am trying to justify not seeing Ozuna play anymore. All 5 of our OF are better than Ozuna, so lets get him out before we do one of those 5 OF.
by JoeCoolMan24 on May 24, 2008 5:18 PM CDT up reply actions
I just mean I want another reason
to not see Ozuna in there. The more people we add to the roster infront of him the better. Otherwise we basically HAVE to see him play a couple times a week.
by JoeCoolMan24 on May 24, 2008 5:21 PM CDT up reply actions
well, i would say no
getz really isn’t that good. like, at all. at any rate, the point is not who is better. ozuna is still going to play regardless.
That is the most dissapointing news I have heard all week
That Getz would be behind Ozuna on our depth chart. I need to go throw up.
by JoeCoolMan24 on May 24, 2008 5:27 PM CDT up reply actions
and in case you missed it
wise isn’t actually going to play. he’ll pinch run. if he picks up the bat at all, or at least more than once, i’ll be shocked.
That was ozzie saying
Fuck it, I know these guys can’t hit weaver… I’ll toss in the AAAA player because he’s probably got a better chance than these bums

Hitting
This is ridiculous. Why can’t we hit? Everyone else hits Weaver. We can’t hit him or anyone else. Most major league teams hit better than we do. Danks gives up two runs and we don’t stand a chance when that happens becuase we can’t HIT!
can we trade him to long island for carl everett?
he clearly would be an upgrade
The greatest trick the White Sox ever pulled was convincing their fan base that "Ozzieball" ever existed.
Too bad we can't make a trade during the season...

I like that Ozzie still seems to have confidence in Wassermann
I’d question where he gets such confidence anymore, but I like this move…
Either he gets out of it, and keeps it at two, or he blows it open and it’s time to start thinking about last-man alternatives…
AIM: SouthSideCheat
How is this a good idea
Wassermann vs Hunter? Hunter enjoys nothing more than beating the Sox.
Hooray for The Wass
I am happy for him and glad Hunter is out. Now let’s get three runs.
Hitting
Last 3 games=5 Runs Total. Win 3-1, lose 3-1, lose 2-0.
Any kind of REASONABLE Hitting and we win all of them.
Bring up Jerry Owens. The offense can’t possibly get any worse.
If the goal is to make the offense worse...
then, by all means, call up Jerry Owens.
by The Jerry Royster Experience on May 24, 2008 5:53 PM CDT up reply actions
It's worse than you think.
Add those runs up again.
Pitching, defense and health.
I read and post sequentially. Sorry, AS.
Pitching, defense and health.
Hitting
I don’t care what Owens stats are. Could it be worse for the offense? Obviously, our pitching stinks. They have the temerity to give up 6 runs in the last three games.
Let’s bring up some pitching!
I'll tell you what the problem is.
We got a guy batting 3rd who in the last 2 games (BOTH LOSSES) is 0 – 5. That’s ZERO hits in our last 2 games (BOTH LOSSES).
Can Jerry Owens play left field?
Pitching, defense and health.
time to send down the bum
and jerry is fast

I gotta give Solbro credit
He did make a post the other day without criticizing Anderson, who happened to represent 1/3 of the Sox offense today, including their only extra-base hit.
Congrats.

I was at the game today...
I went with my cousins from Santa Ana (who are visiting). For those of you who don’t know, it’s in Orange County. It was painful to see them celebrating the whole game, and they were quite surprised to learn my sox are in first. We need some hitting and soon.
What will that do...
Might as well release OC, PK, Swish, Ozuna, Juan, Ramirez too… sadly we have nothing to replace any of them with. Might as well throw in firing Walk since no one seems to have a plan at the plate.
On the other hand, you have to admit, the finest example of pop-ups and flyouts demonstrated today. Does anyone drive down on the ball on this team?
