This is How You Win Gold Gloves
[Orlando Cabrera] called the press box twice Thursday to complain about being charged with an error in the sixth inning of an eventual 3-1 victory over the Cleveland Indians. This during a game in which Cabrera -- the Sox' new leadoff hitter -- couldn't get a bunt down with the score tied in the eighth inning. A few weeks earlier, he also called the press box in Toronto -- during the game -- to complain about a scoring decision that affected him.

yup
calling the press box in the 6th = not being able to get a bunt down in the 8th. impeccable logic. cabrera’s call to the press box also caused tornados throughout the midwest.

well, calling the scorer is a little different than the broadcasters
what will we ever do without the suntimes? no one does a hatchet job like those boys.

the article was unclear on that point. deliberately, one might wonder.

The way the article reads, for all we know, he just hung up with the 1st call
immediately before he stepped to the plate where he was a debacle bunting.
IMHO, I honestly think, in a tied game and with the way he’s “contributing” to the team, he would be better served watching videos of pitchers rather than making phone calls to the press box.
Pitching, defense and health.

i'd rather he called and let out his frustration that way
than seething about it. you don’t benefit from a good yell, bally? people don’t seem to have much of a problem with players and coaches complaining to umpires about those decisions. basically the same principle here.
fucking joke of an article. i can guarantee that cabrera isn’t the only sox player this year, or any year, who has called a scorer. hatchet job. we all know exactly what de luca is trying to accomplish with this one. tasty bait. at least cabrera didn’t do a johnny temple and beat up the scorer.

innocuous question
but could you spell out what exactly de luca is trying to do? i’m missing it, aside from stirring up shit when there isn’t anything.

Well..
That settles that for me.. I tried to root for him even though he hasn’t hit for us, hasn’t ran the bases well, hasn’t been the short stop that was advertised defensively and hasn’t really done anything besides his game where he hit two home runs. I could care less the timing, the fact he called at all tells me what kind of guy he is. Not a guy I’ll root for.

what are you talking about?
you want A compensation this offseason for cabrera? we need this guy calling the press box to keep the fielding percentage up.

This guy is so terrible
Im almost missing Uribe at SS, at least with him you know what kind of suck you have. God I hope cabrera heats up soon.
How do you fuck a nut?!

i guess tipping the cap
and rolling over is an organizational thing. knights lineup v. liriano today:
Getz 2B
Bourgeois CF
Richar SS
Eldred RF
Huffman, R 1B
Collaro, T DH
Cortez LF
Dawkins 3B
Price C
i doubt there’s been a more pathetic lineup than that fielded in AAA this year. what’s worse is that it really isn’t that much different than their everyday lineup.

Is calling the official scorer (assuming that's who he called)
commonplace after getting charged with an error?

if you think cabrera is a prima donna...
After reading this interview with Billy Beane, which is very, very good, I got interested in Eric Chavez’ contract . Well, needless to say, I was a bit amused when I saw this line—a clause in the deal:
During certain games thruout the season, GM Billy Beane must care for Eric's 2 dogs
I’m not sure if there’s a better clause in the history of baseball contracts than that.

if that’s for real, it certainly is.

He's lucky to have one error
He should have around five this season.

this reminds of his attempt to go for 3rd base yesterday
what a stupid move, the ball was in the 2nd base area for pete’s sake
oh, where’s is pete?

When I first read this (before Tdogg's post)
I thought you were referring to your “Where’s Pete?” post. I became sad, since I thought “lightning” referred to the name of a jealous ex-husband’s gun.
I took the "under".
