Why was Danks pulled?
Only 89 pitches and 5 innings of 2-run ball. 5:2 K/BB… Why go to our terrible pen when Danks is doing just fine?

i defer to the management
in such situations. they know how the players are feeling better than we do.
Jesus H. Larry! I said the first half!
True.
Hopefully someone comments on it after the game, because right now (despite the back to back Ks from Dotel) it seems like an absolutely horrible managing decision.

I can't imagine divulging why they pulled Danks
would give another team any kind of advantage
"P.S. if Cintron gets traded or released I will buy drinks for the whole board" - tubesox 6/24/07
He left with a lead
He needs the confidence. And Dotel is oh-so rested! And (not) earning a lot of money sitting on the bench. So WTF? Let the vets play!
I took the "under".
Recapping
Cudduyer averages a SB every 100 PA’s… He has 2 in the first 5+ innings of this game

I'm baffled by the organizations allegiance to Hall and Ozuna
I mean, on a team that is “going for it”, why keep those guys on the roster. It can’t be the money—it’s so small relative to the payroll.

At this point
I might actually rather have Nick Masset pitching.
by Grinder in Training on May 8, 2008 2:51 PM CDT up reply actions
I would too...
Masset is a fire-starter when he starts an inning and he also fans the flames with men on base.
they pulled danks?!?
dude, that was totally not swish you saw on rush street last night. swish was at home playing xbox.
so
not that cuddyer’s on second with no outs, will dotel get our hopes up with two Ks and then give up a homer on an 0-2 pitch to harris?
That would be too predictable

Not if the catcher threw to a different base.
Both runners are credited with a stolen base.

yeah, they indifferently gave up a steal of 3rd and 2nd in a one-run game with no outs.

For those unable to watch
Konerko failed to check his swing on a 3-1 inside FB… Doug Eddings was slow to anything, Pualie took off his shin guard and started for first, at which point the runners went (as if it was a walk) and Mauer asked the first base ump for help… He said pauly went around, which he did, but by that time Q and Thome were steps from 2nd and third, and Mauer still had the ball—so it was a double steal

thank you

Yep...
Gardenhire was pissed that Eddings didn’t make it known that it was a swinging strike and not ball 4.
Doug Eddings screw up a call like that?
That’s unpossible!

The Sox should definitely...
put up a Doug Eddings statue.
It could be automated, with him making the fist pump motion.

see, he didn't ring him up
he just indicated that it was a strike but not an out.
Jesus H. Larry! I said the first half!
konerko
correct me if i’m wrong (and i’m sure the data are out there) but it seems like konerko never even thinks about swinging 3-0 and ends up taking a lot of fastballs down the middle. while i wouldn’t want him up there hacking indiscriminately, it seems like occasionally he might want to pick a specific pitch and location and take a crack at it if it comes. maybe he does and never gets the cookie he’s looking for, but most of the time he’s just standing there with the bat on his shoulder.
crap.
poor swish. his mojo has been sapped.
dude, that was totally not swish you saw on rush street last night. swish was at home playing xbox.
Are you implying he was obtaining mojo illegally while in the Bay area?

Well aware of my weight problems, WU
After all, spending all this time sitting in my parent’s basement eating cheetos and reading the internets was certain to add a bit to my waistline.
If only I had real, live friends, who I could go outside with and maybe meet in person. Maybe we could ride bikes, go for a run, or I could join a gym. But the light, oh the awful sunlight! I just can’t bring myself to go outside.
I’m going to go drink another 2-liter of pop and eat some more potato chips now.

After pitching a 1-2-3 tenth inning, MacDougal comes back out for the 11th.
Nick Green walks
Gregory Porter reaches on a fielder’s choice, Green out at second
Matt Carson walks, Porter to second (Brett Gardner replaces Porter at second)
Gardner steals third, Carson steals second
JD Closer strikes out swinging
Bernie Castro intentionally walked
Justin Christian walks, Gardner scores
