I assume

that “Jeff Larish” and “Brent Clevlen” are just some random names Leyland made up while he actually decides on his DH and left fielder?

Larish is an Iowa product (via ASU)

Was considered by some to have the best power in the ‘05 draft (I think he was second to LaPorta in HR that year)... Some scouts really hated him, and his bonus demands outstripped his tools/projections…

He’s a decent prospect still, albeit one with less upside than when he was originally drafted… He essentially possesses the same skill set as Josh Fields.

Cleven killed us when we saw the Tigers early this year.

Cheat, did you ever consider asking Williams or Hahn

to visit here and take questins ala Beane?
Curious because I heard Hahn with Levine and Coopock and he seemed pretty open. Even made reference to “Sunday Lineups”

I think it was Clete Thomas

that killed us in the early games—looks like Clevlen just got called up.

Amazing if you had all that off the top of your head about Larish (which I assume you probably did given the timing of your post). Either way, thanks for the info.

by The Actual El Guapo on Jun 10, 2008 6:04 PM CDT up reply actions

You're right

but we saw Cleven last year

I know people who know Larish from his HS days. He had a ridiculous sophmore year at ASU that had some speculating him going #1 overall eventually.
