It's Gotta Be The Greenies!
| Runs Scored | Runs Allowed | |
|---|---|---|
| Home (29 games) | 162 | 112 |
| Road (37 games) | 149 | 136 |
I've already touched on one statistical anomaly following Wednesday's sweep at the hands of the Tigers. Here's another that should incite considerable conversation. The Sox have scored 10 runs in their last 6 road games (all losses), but they've scored 61 in their last 7 home games (all victories).
Discuss.

this team is streaky as hell.
let’s hope we’re on a good one come playoff time

streaky as hell yes...but
they just look so much more relaxed at home (and they should) but the momentum they had after that seven game win streak should have been carried with them to detroit…it just seems that most of the hitters just let all their hitting approaches go to waste and go up there hacking away at whatever is thrown…at home they work the count and get their pitch to hit and they hit it hard….also it might be just me but everytime the sox get a leadoff guy on and they’re trailing in a game, almost on cue the next hitter rolls over a inside pitch or tries to pull something on the outer half and hits a easy DP ground ball…the lineup must use the same approach everyday and work to become a more consistent hitting team on the road and stop wasting pitching performances (even though jose and javy’s last starts weren’t anything to write home about)

it could be worse...
If I hears correctly on XM yesterday, the Braves have lost 21 consecutive road games by 1 run! Dating back to last August.

Seems kind of meaningless - they have other wins and losses, just not by 1 run

other teams
in the last 21 road games decided by one run, the Sox are 4-17. Even the Red Sox are only 5-16.
LAA is 12-9 though.

I really don't understand this.
Does it mean that they have lost the last 21 road games which have been decided by one run?

yes, mr. pink. that's what it means.

It’s the world’s smallest violin playing just for the Atlanta Braves.

Ugh 2 6 game losing streaks on the road
And your right all tied to hitting. The team seemed a bit impatient on the quick trip. Come home get better, but you have to win on the road eventually…..

The Sox better own this guy...
Jorge De La Rosa was held out of Thursday’s game, and Hurdle announced that the left-hander will be the starter for Saturday’s game in Chicago.
Also, the Cubs may be interested in Podthetic…
The Cubs have created a working list of potential available left-handed bats, with Podsednik among several names being explored. Their interest will hinge largely on current center fielder Jim Edmonds’ performance. Podsednik was a catalyst on the White Sox team that won the 2005 World Series. The Cubs inquired about Podsednik as a free agent last winter.“When I get an opportunity, it’s a matter of doing my job, getting on base,” said Podsednik, hitting .222 in 90 at-bats. “I can’t worry about what’s going to happen with other guys or decisions that are made off the field.”

OT: A question for you youngsters out there:
This week I’ve noticed a disturbing (to me) trend:
Guys with haircuts that cover 1/2 their foreheads. Not like wind-blown bangs or anything, but the actual cut creating the hairline. The first one I saw, I thought “poor guy wearing a wig to cover a chemo hair loss”. But by the time I saw the 3rd or 4th of the week, I’m saying wtf? These guys appear to be in their 20’s, so I’m appealing to you: is this the new trendy thing? To only leave a couple of inches between hair and eyebrows? If so, is this celebrity inspired? I admit that most post-70s cultural references are beyond me…

Perhaps an emo haircut?
Google Image search emo haircut. Could be what you are talking about.
But your whole post reminds of a great Simpsons line from Grandpa Simpson talking about Joe Namath:
“Look at them sideburns! He looks like a girl. Now, Johnny Unitas, there’s a haircut you could set your watch to.”
Caulk the wagon.

Ok, I looked. Thanks, but not really close...
Emo’s seem to be about long bangs covering an eye. What I saw was a straight across the forehead hairline.
But now that you mention Abe Simpson, I suppose I could’ve imagined the whole thing.

Like Beckham's haircut?
Show mercy. I get to watch the Rangers.

YES!!!!!!
Thank you!!!
And some I’ve seen seem more ‘tailored’ or neater than Beck’s, but great call TfT!!
So the question remains:
WTF? Is this just a random reverse mulleting of America, or inspired by something of which I’m not aware?

i believe it's inspired by the german artistic movement known as transmediale

Maybe the trend (though I could find no photographic corroboration) is...
But I think Beckham’s is inspired by his dad’s football helmet:
Gordon’s father was a QB for the Univ. of South Carolina

If this is accurate (and I have no reason to doubt you)
color me impressed. I consider myself fairly well read and I have no idea WTF transmediale is – had to Google it. You are a well-rounded, feral guy.

Being a male pattern baldness geezer,
I’d love to have all of that hair. Then again, being older I feel a need to complain.
My issue is with the hair “style” whereas the young guy apparently rolls out of bed and doesn’t even bother to run a comb through his locks. When I do so on Saturday mornings at home, my kids call me “chickenhead.”
Just an observation.

my hair looks kinda like that i guess
i’m not sure though if it’s particularly new though. pretty sure i’ve seen pics of my dad from the 70’s-80’s with somewhat similar hair and he was pretty mainstream when it came to such things.
dude, that was totally not swish you saw on rush street last night. swish was at home playing xbox.

This is why you don't sweat losing Oneli Perez...
Indians designated RHP Oneli Perez for assignment.
Perez was claimed off waivers from the White Sox last month and had a strong minor league track record prior to this season, but posted a 7.11 ERA in seven appearances for the Indians’ Triple-A affiliate.
