Here are the positional bonuses
  1. 2 points for a gold glove at C, SS, or 2B, and 1 point for any other gold glove.
  2. 6 points if they were the regular SS or C on a WS team, 5 points for 2B or CF, 3 for 3B, 2 for LF or RF, and 1 for 1B. I don’t have the OF distribution, so I give 3 points for OF.
  3. 5 points if they were the regular SS or C on a League Championship (but not WS) team, 3 points for 2B or CF, 1 for 3B. I don’t have the OF distribution, so I give 1 points for OF.
  4. 2 points if they were the regular SS or C on a Division Championship team (but not WS or LCS), 1 points for 2B, CF, or 3B. I don’t have the OF distribution, so I give 1 points for OF
30 points for 2100 games at 2B or SS, or 15 for 1,800 games

There were a couple others as well

Paulie, JD and Swish were all looking to go the other way on the outside fastball, so that looks good. I like De La Rosa’s stuff so far, but he looks like a fastball/change type and I think Thome actually would have been an okay play today…if he’s healthy anyway.

Rockies @ White Sox (6/14/2008):
Cy De La Rosa's line -- 5.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 8 SO

Our best shot now is to hold it and then maybe beat Fuentes in the 9th…but that’s unlikely….and I find it very unlikely that Russell holds it against Holliday, Helton and Atkins if that’s who indeed comes in.

This game is so boring I just had to sign up. Interesting and depressing — though not necessarily surprising, considering — Sox stat this year. In games where both teams score 2 or fewer runs, the Sox are 2-8. That blows. I haven’t checked on the 2005 numbers, but you know …

Assuming nothing changes

this will be the 7th time the Sox get shut out this year. Already.

By way of comparison here’s how many times they have been shut out in recent seasons (these are all full year):

2007: 11
2006: 6
2005: 7
2004: 8
2003: 8
2002: 7
2001: 4
2000: 3

by The Actual El Guapo on Jun 14, 2008 8:48 PM CDT reply actions

Pathetic

I am starting to wonder if some of our guys were using PEDs. I think a lot of these fly balls would have gone yard in previous years… Just look at both leagues now, ERA’S are down, average pitchers are becoming much more valuable since so many teams were built focusing on power numbers. Now many of these one dimensional players are no dimensional. Hopefully we see more speedy lead off types get a chance since they can help teams in more ways than a slugger would, I want to see more skill sets in the game and less home runs. It is very refreshing to me to watch baseball be played the way it was invented to be played.
